In response to my previous post - I've had a couple glasses of wine and now I'm really freaking excited. STRFKR and Washed Out are on there and those are some of my old jams. I'm going through my playlists and slowly recognizing a LOT of good shit on this. I'm an hour away so while the price is high.. I'm gonna have a good time
i’ve been following Denzel Curry since raider klvn was a thing and im so fucking happy to see hes at sub status now. i know he has the boost due to it being in fl but still
Yeah. And he always ruled live going back at least a few years. He always seems to crack my Top 5 regardless of what festival I see him at (have seen him at a club as well). I feel like the appeal is the authentic, raw energy without pretense or ego or phoniness.
The bookings have definitely become much more bass driven since Insomniac took over, this year in particular. I wonder if it’s partly due to how sparsely attended the non-EDM sets were in 2020. I vividly remember walking up to the front of the stage for HAIM’s 11:00 set right as they were coming on.
In some sense I think they lost a little of the magic it had when it was a more well rounded multi genre fest, but that may be me projecting my tastes. With that being said, here are the sets from the artists I have not seen before that I am most excited for:
1. Caribou 2. Four Tet 3. STRFKR 4. Flying Lotus 5. Washed Out 6. Cannons 7. DRAMA 8. Twin Shadow 9. Megan Thee Stallion 10. Ross from friends
HM: Denzel Curry & Goth Babe
Caribou & Four Tet alone makes this worth it for me. Also excited that Cannons, DRAMA, & Goth Babe will most likely alleviate some schedule conflicts at OSL this month.
So Insomniac dropped this and of course I had to get tickets. (The Mau5 and Zhu for $180? Sign me up.) It's on the Okee grounds. Smart play by them to tbh, but my wallet hates me
I'll be there. Take a wild guess what act sold me.
I've been wanting to try this one out for a long while anyways, I've heard nothing but good things. I'll be a third wheel with my sis and her boyfriend, so let's hang if anyone else is also there.
So Countdown Campout changed its venue... to Orlando. With no camping. Which pissed me off to no end, but it is what it is. At least they offered full refunds, but it's still not a good look for Insomniac

Yay! Tame? It's amazing, you'll have a great time.

Last call to sign up for Secret Santa. Sign up, make/buy gifts, get gifts in return. There are some really great gift givers signed up. You know you wanna! Great way to get to know your fellow inforoo'ers better.
How easy is it to walk around this festival? Are the stages far apart like Bonnaroo or closer together like Coachella?
I don't know how much changed from 2017 when I went, but the festival itself is very easy. All the stages (minus the beach stage and that fire stage thing) are right in a row. The complicated mess is the camping around it. I got lost pretty much every time I left the festival.

Thanks! We're considering this, but may do a hotel anyway so that would solve the camping problem.
This will be the first time I've actually camped in a tent / canopy at a festival since 2013 and I'm pretty excited about it. I finally got our camping pass last week and have started to sort through my supplies in the back of the bus to get ready.
For those of you who have gone before, how common are campground sets? Is it a similar situation to Electric Forrest?

It would be more so at the aquachobee stage or jungle 51 but I haven’t gone since 17 which are in the campground (as long as it hasn’t changed)
Jan 23 2019 they did last round artist additions and dailies via ig. So I guess next couple weeks. Im waiting on seeing Roos lineup and the additions if ima pull the trigger or not

They do happen, but it isnt really what you think. Lower billed djays def do play RV sets, but its not to the caliber of Roo. Not like Cage The Elephant playing in a barn. After 3 okee's and one roo, the only thing I wish they would improve on is campground activity. Every pod at bonnaroo seems to have something going on, it feels alive at night. It didn't bother me until I came back the third year after going to my first roo. The campgrounds were just... campgrounds. Thankfully they make up for it with the production and the venue, trust me you still get that "3 am drunk as hell wtf did I just stumble into" moments. And to top it all off, jungle 51. Essentially what kalliope was but jungle techno vibes all night.

One reason is curious is I have a festival buddy who also DJ's as a hobby and I was curious about playing too. It's one of those things where I have no intention of doing anything with it, it's just for fun. But it would be fun to spin a bit at our campsite for new friends and stuff.

Kind of an addendum to this and why they may be less common, is because Incendia and Aquachobee exist outside their version of Centeroo. They're near enough that you would still have to obviously walk their, but you're not having to actually pass through Grove(?) gates for those stages.

Ohh I see! For sure people bring set ups and dj, me and my bud were thinking about renting a quite honda generator and making a little set up, but not sure if we will. But for sure people throw their own "renegade" sets. They say its not allowed but they don't really enforce it. I'm sure Roo and electric forest have the same "rule" but people do it anyway. But I totally feel you, I started djaying a few years ago mixing edm and whatever I enjoyed. I didn't really see that going far because I don't produce music, but I just do it for fun.
Yeah same here, I've mostly just messed around with it at house parties, our Mini Roo's and such. I've only ever had one official gig, but that was just as a favor to a friend at a place she books.
That's something that's always attracted me to spots like Burning Man or EF, going to all of those unofficially organized things or just making up one of your own.

Ahh yes, your right. Those stages are amazing, no security check point is the cherry on top. I remember walking there with a 12 pack of beer. I've even seen someone with a small dab rig lol
I found a really good Okee 22 playlist that someone made on Spotify and it didn't really hit me until I put it on random how much EDM really is on this lineup. If they really are trying to become Electric Forrest South, that's fine. But if they want to become the big competitor to Bonnaroo while the iron is hot, I think it's a mistake for them to back themselves into one genre corner like that.
