Im all aboard the Avril train. Paramore would be a fun booking too but I wonder if they play Lollapalooza? Since it is another LN festival
Maybe. But this seems like they wanted to announce their first show back and wont even be ready with an album and such til then. They could just set themselves up for 2023 and hit up every fest. Bonnaroo seemed more likely since they have such a good relationship with them, but they werent on the poster last week.
This is the first message board I've ever been on, the only reason I joined is because I love Bonnaroo and wanted to read and talk about it all year long.
But Paramore would have to headline this time no matter what. And why would Riot want to share 2 headliners anyway.
Right, I don’t know if Paramore will headline or not or what, just that she’s billed under one confirmed and one speculated headliner. I was just thinking there’s potential for undercard crossover.
There will be lots of undercard crossover. I don't think Riot Fest cares if a one day fest in Vegas taking place over a month later booked the two of the same headliners either, I think just about everyone on that lineup is more or less in play.

I don't see how Avril isn't getting that Limp Bizkit spot at Lolla. If they booked Billie you could do a package deal because she would 100% be willing to come out for that set

What kind of placement do you think SDRE would get? Close a side stage, or be a sub on the main?
Sub schedule wise. Its been 11 years since their last shows and most everyone going will not have ever seen them. Dont think you put something like that on a side stage.

You clearly haven't been to Riotfest
They've put far bigger bands than Sunny Day Real Estate on the non main stages
They already have their reunion act for next year. Got their legacy headliner as well. I would think the best move to round out the top three would be either a metal band or a big 90s alt act. And what do you know, NIN is both!
Hate to admit it, but Green Day would also not be a bad 3rd headliner. They are active this year, and I'm honestly surprised they haven't headlined yet...
My Chemical Romance * Green Day * Misfits Operation Ivy * Ghost * Paramore
I see Sunny Day Real Estate on this lineup and they could be given the headlining spot but I hoping that’s not the case! Holding out for either NIN, Bauhaus, OP IVY, Blink 182, Foo Fighters, Metallica. This could probably have Paramore or Avril Lavigne but I’m sure Lolla wants them! If Abba is on the lineup it’s definitely the biggest news in 2022 but highly unlikely.
NIN is busy that weekend so their chances have slipped.

But is that what youre going to do with what would be seen as a pretty notable reunion and booking for the festival? Like would Riot have put Jawbreaker on a side stage if they had switched billings with Paramore a few years ago? Doubt it.

Lol Jawbreaker was a WAY bigger deal. One of the few reunions left worth for Riot Fest. This isn’t Operation Ivy we are talking about.

Green Day is probably too expensive for this year's Riot Fest given the other two headliners they've already announced. If and when Op Ivy is ever booked, they'll headline and will be top 3 for sure.

LOL ya'll gotta seriously lower your expectations. Riot Fest isn't getting Metallica, Green Day or Foo Fighters, especially after forking over the money for MCR and Misfits. Run the Jewels was a headliner last year. Slayer in 2019, Beck in 2018. They can't even afford to book 3 arena level headliners per year, they're not gonna snag a stadium act as their third name.

Slayer was definitely doing farewell arena tours that year, and I would think that Misfits would be this year's "non arena" HL. Is Shaky Knees really that much bigger that they can get Green Day but Riot Fest can't? Anyways...
My Chemical Romance * Misfits * Avenged Sevenfold Yeah Yeah Yeahs * Korn * The Offspring

This is not a Danny Wimmer butt rock fest. I know they booked Slipknot last year, but that was as a last minute replacement to a replacement headliner. Korn and Avenged Sevenfold aren't going to be there.

Imma let you finish, but 2018 had Weezer and Incubus in the top 4... This is still slim pickings pandemic time and maybe butt rock will swoop in to save the day again! Also, is Rise Against considered butt rock yet?

Weezer is pop punk and has played the festival multiple times. Incubus is more mainstream alternative but they def straddle the line a little. It was an out of left field booking at the time.
Rise Against is still a punk band, but they regularly get booked at the DW feats.
This fest is rooted in punk. They'll book a little butt rock here and there but booking Avenged Sevenfold and Korn to play in the top 6 in the same year would represent a pretty major shift in booking.
