I’m surprised that it’s (supposedly) not selling well. MCR and Dua Lipa sell out arenas, and Green Day come close to selling out stadiums. Seeing all of them from the GA floor at their own shows (resale) would likely run over $1,000 combined (which is what drew me to the lineup to begin with). I really thought it was 3 slam dunk headliner bookings. Is there just not enough overlap in the fanbases? Is September just not a good month for festivals for their target demographic? Or are festivals really just that poorly in demand that 3 incredibly expensive to see acts like this can’t move tickets?
my guess is that its not doing super well because of it happening while its main demographic is in school. Last year did fine because everyone wanted to go back to festivals but now that the market is oversaturated, people are prob less likely to want to miss classes wednesday-friday and monday to be able to go to this thing

This could definitely be true. I'm a grad student, and would've gone last year but had Thursday classes. This year I got lucky and all of my classes are earlier in the week.

Cooler weather at a festival is a huge plus, but the biggest perk of holding a fest in the Fall is that the sun sets at 6:45 as opposed to 8:45.. About half the sets are night sets, and I love it. This fest literally moved from being during the Summer Solstice to the Fall Equinox.

Yea IMO the pros far outweigh the cons. Another thing to note is last year I saw/experienced far less "bros" than you'd typically see in the summer.
I kinda wonder if Firefly saw this year as an opportunity to test out the demand for a September festival, in a "more typical" festival year. RATM was obviously pushed back a year, if they are still playing Firefly. So perhaps the available artists in September was also just more of an attraction. Pivoting to MCR certainly has that benefit.
September works better for me personally, as Primavera and Bonnaroo in June are always going to be preferred for me over Firefly, and getting essentially 3 weeks of PTO approved for one month isn’t very easy, if even possible. I also like the cooler weather and the more night sets. But if they’re going to do the fest in September, they need to cater the lineup more to the 25-40 crowd.

Everyone is playing Thursday. Saturday is pretty good, Sunday is okay. Friday I literally wanna see MCR and Avril. I guess that makes for better camping out.

Thursday - Halsey * Jamie xx * Jungle * Briston Maroney * Mannequin Pussy * Ezra Furman * Michigander * Lo Moon Friday - MCR * Weezer * All Time Low * Dayglow * Gus Dapperton * The Backseat Lovers * Indigo de Souza Saturday - Green Day * Porter Robinson * Haim * Bleachers * Isaiah Rashad * Wolf Alice * Pale Waves * Jordana Sunday - Charli XCX * Rainbow Kitten Surprise * Manchester Orchestra * Girl Talk * The Regrettes * The B&B * CHAI
Pretty optimally spaced out acts over the 4 days if you ask me.. Sunday's the weakest day imo, as is usually the case.. 2018 being an exception
Also, seeing this lineup broken down by day makes me realize how great last year's lineup really was. This year is solid, but a step down from 2021 for my tastes.

Saturday is a bit on the weak side for me this year but the other three days have more than enough I want to see.
Doss, Benny The Butcher, & Wolf Alice are 3 gems there. I've seen Green Day, Porter, & Haim and all three put on great shows (especially Green Day & Porter).

you don’t like Dua Lipa despite liking Charli? i think you’ll be pleasantly surprised with her live show

I'm not crazy about either, pop music is not at all my thing. Dua is poppier imo, and it seems like Charli is a much more kinetic performer from videos I've seen
