ballz - In 2018 they went really late, even on the main festival grounds (like 'til 3-4 a.m.). In 2019, they scaled it back and I think music ended around 1-2 a.m.
Every year they make little tweaks, but music/events in the campgrounds happening in the afterhours is something they've done most years (going back to their Mecca days).
here's a question: has phil / dd historically ever just done surprise drops or is it always something like "incoming transmission: next monday"?
No, they haven't done any same-day or surprise drops ever since they expanded to a multi-day format.
Generally, Phil/Daze gives a 1-day head's up or more for anything involving the lineup. So for example if we don't see any posts or emails by tomorrow, then the lineup will probably not come until next week (at the earliest). This is with the safe assumption that Daze does not drop their lineup on Fri-Sun., since they haven't done that in the past either.

When did Desert Daze start following Soulwax? They were supposed to play CRSSD in 2020 and sorta alluded that they would make it up someday. With Despacio at TANP a Soulwax set at both CRSSD and Desert Daze could happen, right? RIGHT?!

Reddit people are conflicted right now because DD also started following people that we assumed were out for radius clause..
In the past, Daze has followed some acts that I don't think were ever truly in the picture of playing the fest.
Like, last year I noticed they followed Queens of the Stone Age and Mr. Bungle. So them following a band/artist does increase the likelihood they may play Daze or a Daze Presents show, but it doesn't necessarily mean it'll happen right away.

Hahah that was me that posted over there. There's some interesting people that I'd assume would be on their radar that they DON'T follow. For example they don't follow Sons of Kemet or Magdalena Bay or Babe Rainbow. Acts like Portishead and the Smile and King Crimson, of course they're gonna follow even if they're not booked. I thought it was strange that they DO follow Four Tet, but not Floating Points. They DO follow Caribou but not Jamie xx.

Anybody here like Superbloom? Some modern shoegazey grunge out of NY. They're playing Louder Than Life fest Thursday 9/22 in Louisville then their next scheduled thing is in Sacramento for Aftershock Fest on Thursday 10/6
