There will be a lot. There's a bunch of Tame fans on the discord who are gonna camp out but the consensus is that you can get real close to the rail if you just go early for the band before them. So we'll see.
I hope there aren't a bunch of Tame fans chatting during Kikagaku Moyo
Myself and a bunch of others have been preaching rail etiquette and everyone seems to be onboard but thats just on the Discord. A lot of people are hyped for Kikagaku too.

Fuck I hope not either, that would blow big time. I want to enjoy that set as much as I can since it'll be the last time most of us see them.
If any of the lamestream Tame fans come, itll be later in the day I bet. Theyre not gonna drive that early to Perris. Im more surprised day parking for saturday didnt sell out

Going over the schedule now. Overly ambitious but looking like
Fri: Al Lover > Brainstory > Small Black/ Imarhan > PPCs > Cymande > Sky > Babe/Cortex > little Chicano > Charlotte Adigery > Men I Trust > Gizz > Mild High Club > Mauskovic Not really too much that I need to see besides Crumpets and Gizz. Will kind of be floating between the rest. Missing Perfume Genius is a bummer but can't miss Gizz
Sat: Psychadelics & Capitalism > Lady Wray > BCNR > Shame > Frankie > Slift > Kuti > Viagra Boys > Kikagaku Moyo > The Armed > Tame > Reggie > campgrounds kind of between nilufer and slift. saw nilufer at Shaky but was kind of bored. Like her recordings but was unimpressed live. Also wish they'd swith juju and nation of language.
Sun: Bongo band > Mariachi > Strawberry Guy > Inner Wave > Peggy > Automatic > BBNG/ Sleaford > Levitation Room > Marias > Fuzz/ Aldous > Beach House > Pond > closing ceremonies Torn on the fuzz/aldous and bbng/ sleaford conflicts. those will be gametime decisions.
Also didn't realize sunset at 6:30, last light at 7. That's amazing.

Well fuck. The van has dead batteries AGAIN and it has been plugged into a charger since May. We had a big power outage and I wonder if that messed up my charger. On top of that, after I jumped the battery I rolled down the window and it just dropped all the way down and won't come back up now. Found a local place that can look at it tomorrow so hopefully they can fix it quick. With these stupid tiger mosquitoes exploding around here there's no way I want to sleep with a window down.

I've been completely stressed about my van the entire drive. I'm actually afraid to try and start it tomorrow after driving 2 days through the desert. I don't know why I keep doing this to myself

same here. Every single event I take it to is a struggle and I only have to take it on 2 hour drives usually. I couldn't imagine taking this thing to Colorado. Good luck!
Pretty sure I'm just going to keep the fuse pulled for the refrigerator since there's a slim chance both batteries charged enough and the trickle charger probably won't help with such little time.
“Meat the Beetles” is a throwback cultural experience designed to transport people back to the 60’s, when the modern environmental movement was just beginning and popular music encouraged people to open their minds.
You’ll be greeted by a visual explosion of lights, sounds, and art connected to the world of entomophagy and psychedelic rock. The space is centered around a “Meat the Beetles” food truck and Tasting Tent Record Store - with information on insect species, their culinary uses, and benefits covering the walls as posters and record sleeves.
Renowned insect chef Joseph Yoon and his team prepare hot and cold insect dishes offering festival attendees and performing bands the opportunity to try a range of edible insect dishes: from chocolate covered flying ants to beetle bread, BBQ crickets and even pizza superworm!
“Meat the Beetles” creates an indelible memory through new behaviors which contribute to shaping our shared future. Insects are an incredibly efficient source of protein – offering nearly 3 times as much compared to traditional livestock. Insects also require far less land to manage, less feed to grow and harvest, and 90% less water to cultivate – all while emitting little to no greenhouse gasses!
“Meat the Beetles” at Desert Daze is open every day until dusk in the main venue. Experience the tasting menu and learn about the future of sustainable food.

Has anyone seen Cortex or Cymande? I wasn't familiar with either and am really liking both, but they both put out records in the '70s and apparently haven't played much lately so I wonder what they're like now. I saw that Cymande cancelled their East Coast shows because a member died in August, which followed the deaths of two other members/collaborators in 2020. Daze will be their second show as the tour resumes.

I have a friend who saw Cymande on their last tour several years back and he thought they were kinda boring live. I'm hoping his experience was a fluke as I'm really excited to hear them. Second Time Around and Promised Heights are such good albums.
No idea about Cortex live, but I'm similarly excited about seeing them. Really hoping they don't disappoint.

This will be the first time Cortex has played in the US!

Looks like car search will indeed be happening at the fairgrounds! Now this is a really positive change!
"Campers need to check in at the Fairgrounds off Ramona Expressway and Lake Perris Drive, where their vehicles will be searched, tickets scanned, and wristbands distributed."

I think I'm going to check them out. I was reading this article about them and how often they have been sampled by the likes of MF Doom, Wiz Khalifa, Fat Joe, Curren$y, Logic, Dave East, XXXTentacion, Mellowhype, as well as Earthgang and J.I.D.

Just saw Kiakgaku Moyo last night, they'll either win them over or completely drown them out. Total wall of (well mixed) sound even in the quieter moments

One of the main reasons I got VIP...
Oh yeah, duh to me. Forgot that VIP passes included separate viewing areas. So yeah, couple that with what TheeImportance pointed out about them being loud and kick ass, it shouldn't be an issue.
ONLY ONE MORE DAY!!! Gonna be super difficult to be productive to any extent today at the office. I'm ready to dive into the madness.
