Wilco. Wilco. Wilco.
Minus PJ, Mumford and Crumbs, and The Lumineers these are 17 of my top 50 favorite bands and I think I have only actually napped to Band of Horses. It was camping at Nelson Ledges for maybe Badfish? I was with my kiddo and he loves them as well so we fell asleep under the stars discussng life and which album was our favorite. Top favorite memory too.
We're all a mess of paradoxes. Believing in things we know can't be true. We walk around carrying feelings too complicated and contradictory to express. But when it all becomes too big, and words aren't enough to help get it all out, there's always music.

I actually have no idea who I’m going with after The National and Wilco are gone . They’re all about the same.
I’ve seen Local Natives a couple of times, and never found them that sleepy at all. Same with Death Cab, who I’ll say again rock out pretty well, live. I’ve certainly zoned out to Beach House and The War on Drugs, but it was more an “achieve a chemically-assisted meditative state” thing than sleep. Those are probably my next four votes after Wilco and the National.
I randomly put on like 10 or so wilco songs from a bunch of different albums the other day and only one came close to "Wilco shreds" so either someone needs to re direct me or they can stay

The sleepiness factor of Wilco escalated exponentially once Jeff Tweedy kicked his addiction to painkillers...so, post-A Ghost Is Born. That record, Summerteeth, Being There, and AM all have some rockers. Yankee Hotel Foxtrot is definitely mellow, overall, but there's a lot of interesting arrangement stuff happening that brings the energy.

I was still calling them Wilcoma until I saw them live.

Band of Horses and TWOD are probably gonna go way later than they need to however The National is gonna go way earlier than they need to so i guess it's a fair trade-off

nels cline shreds hard. his solo in impossible germany is probably one of my favorites ever.
this show from 2007 was probably my favorite bonnaroo set of theirs.
Is that a dig on my nerdy boys? The Real Estate guys are like the one band that I think I may have an outside chance of being a groupie for. They are all just regular dudes. I love them.

I would add Art of Almost, Bull Black Nova, You are My Face, and I'm a Wheel to that snowman list, and would say most any live version of Misunderstood or Via Chicago is going to be hard to sleep through given the noise freakouts. Some of their sleepiest albums have been released since Nels was in the band, but he's almost always doing wild shit on the live versions, even when it's not the focus.
Kicking Television is the best album length example of Wilco Shreds.

My girlfriend’s friend once called the national “sad dad music” and that’s why I’m not voting for this round. Their music makes me think of a dude in his 40s nursing a scotch or IPA and a single tear rolling down his face at the daydream of a life he might’ve lived.
