I feel like people are going to want to go to War on Drugs because they're great but it's sleepy and even the solos are nap starter material, it's not about sleepy = bad

I can't stress this enough, we're not looking for the worst band on this list
I guess I cant really participate because I only actively listened to 5 out of the 20 bands and know a couple of songs from another 3 maybe. The rest I have no idea. Do most of y'all know music from all of these bands?

Bad music brings me no comfort. I sleep best when I’m comfortable.

I'm familiar with all of them. Many of them are probably interchangeable for casual listeners, tbh.

going with sufjan on this one. i haven't gone super deep on his catalog but he has enough songs that i love that i'd remain engaged in a live performance. i've never seen him live.

This is a time I'm grateful for last.fm because I was going to say "I've listened to all of these except Lord Huron" and it turns out I've actually listened to quite a bit of Lord Huron over the years and none of it left an impression lmao

This is also my vote. I've seen him twice: the first show (Carrie & Lowell tour) was absolutely riveting but quiet and acoustic in a way where I could see a total philistine falling asleep during it somehow.
The second show was on his summer festival run in 2016 and I just don't see how anyone could fall asleep during this:

With the exception of Bon Iver and Mumford, I've seen every band that was in this poll live, including the ones already eliminated...and I'm seeing Bon Iver in June. I'd say I'm a super-fan of 3 of the original 20, an above-average fan of 8, and more than passingly familiar with the rest. I dunno. If you were actively being a music nerd during the aughts, it was kind of hard to miss most of them.

The Decemberists should be in consideration for an exit. I can see not buying into their whole aesthetic, but they've never struck me as particularly sleepy, and have plenty of bangers if you can deal with the lyrical content.

Also, if someone could clarify if we’re voting for the *worst* band, or the *sleepiest*, and if there’s any difference between the two, that’d be great.

So are we supposed to base our vote on live performances or recorded? Because I feel like a lot of these bands are sleepy on record but not at all live, or vice versa.

I’m can be a sad and most of them sing sad or slow tempo songs, so almost every single one is a favorite of mine and I have seen all except PJ.
We're all a mess of paradoxes. Believing in things we know can't be true. We walk around carrying feelings too complicated and contradictory to express. But when it all becomes too big, and words aren't enough to help get it all out, there's always music.
