Awesome episode but the way they introduced Sian Heder was hamfisted as hell lol. That felt like an Entourage episode where they had a cameo they were afraid the audience wouldn't track. I understand she's not an instantly recognizable face but they could have found something a little more natural. One of the great Barry episodes outside of that, I thought. Even the way that scene ended with Sally was great (intentional) cringe.
Not sure if this has been mentioned in this thread. But this is prob my fav show on tv rn/I think is the best on tv. The tonal shifts this show can pull off in moments notice is super impressive. Loving this season. But Bill does a recap pod every week. I think it started with a season 3 but if y’all would like to listen I attached the pod, not all episodes in the show are Barry related but Bills in there. So sad only 4 episodes left. I’ve been doing a rewatch as well, and dang the episode Ronnie/Lilly episode so lit.

been enjoying these pods as well. i really wasn't sure if the end of last episode was really a time jump, hader confirmed in the pod it is. eight years!
i would watch a show that is just Sally playing a disgraced actor working as an acting coach. i have loved every second of those few scenes. sarah goldberg is so good.

She’s off the charts on this show, her face work is just stupid. She’s constantly cracking me up, when she’s helping her acting student in front of the director and she switches mid monologue to the director had me cackling. So I’m 100% with you that I could totally watch a show if Sally went forward with her career following that golf cart ride. Bills so causal about that 8 year jump in the pod, can’t wait to see how they wrap up the last 4 episodes but also super sad.

So, the time jump is here to stay? I thought it was ambiguous or even in Barry’s head but now I have no idea how this is going to wrap up. Is Hank storyline finished ? Idk how he’ll fit back in. Getting Better Call Saul vibes now.

Yeah the last 2 min of the pod he says it’s legit. Didn’t really say how that will play out in the last episodes though.
I'm not immediately feeling the time jump. I'm sure I'll come around though.
I kind of feel it was unnecessary since it’s going right back to Barry’s original plan to kill Gene? Still, this season is Breaking Bad final season levels of a downer.
I caught up on the first 5 episodes of the season last night and I thought the first four were excellent (even if Fred Armisen being one of the assassins took me out of the moment), but the fifth episode was... Maybe the worst episode of the series?

It was a risky episode for sure. Not my favorite episode, not sure if it's the worst, but I respect the hutzpah to do an eight year time jump and throw a kid in the mix.

Sally was phenomenal though.
I just can't think of an episode that I found less compelling. It didn't really seem to advance any particular agenda of the show

Quality is subjective but super disagree with the last part here. I think the episode clearly advanced characters and established what the rest of the season's storyline will be. I think the time jump felt like a cop out so I wasn't thrilled about that but the episode itself I think was interesting and showed a lot.
Y’all that under cooked chicken pot pie made me wanna cry. Also I loved the last few episodes but I’m also a huge fan of this show. I like how he’s taking chances with the ending of the show.

So far, it kind of reminds me of how Weeds ended. Weeds plodded along its last few seasons (which I’m not accusing Barry of doing), but I thought they really nailed the ending

I never saw Weeds idk if I’ve had a time jump besides the Parks and Rec finale lol. I like how he’s keeping us our toes, and I like how much of a bummer the episodes have been. Similar to how Successions last ep was like y’all sure y’all been rooting for these people the past 3 seasons, okay buckle up. Can’t believe there is only 2 episodes left yall. At least the bear is coming back cause Barry, Succession and Lasso all gone in a few weeks
two other things that made me laugh were just the image of tattooed fuches coming out of the prison to black sabbath, and hank's comment on pepperdine's volleyball program.

Last night’s episode was definitely the funniest one in weeks. I loved the scene with Fuches and his crew trying to figure out how to make their activities more palatable for the barista and her daughter. Every Noho Hank scene cracked me up as well - the boxes, the rocket….
I’m looking forward to seeing how they wrap it up next week.

Yeah. I still haven't come around. I still enjoy the show. It's not the same though. As much ground has kind of been covered, I kind of feel like things have been rushed to wrap everything up this season.
Separate from my overall blah with the jump, it felt weird to me that Moss just left Barry alone all day to go set up a somewhat elaborate plot to get Cousineau in a room.
Lastly, related to what I said about trailers in the Succession thread, the one for next week is great. As vague as they have historically been for Barry, this one tells you exactly what is about to go down.
