Schitt's Creek memes are gold. I have tried four times to watch that show and can't get past episode 5.
I generally find it hard to get into shows about people who aren't particularly likeable. I know from my wife bingeing it that Schitt's Creek's characters become more endearing with time, FWIW.

It's very weird that I think 3 of the 4 leads in Schitts Creek are pretty funny and talented but the show itself is almost unwatchable based on the half dozen or so episodes I've seen

I hope Dan is the one you're leaving out there.
Yep. Annie is great on Kevin Can F Himself and the parents' resumes speak for themselves
it took me pretty much the whole first season to get into schitt's creek, but eventualy I did and think it's great. Chris Elliot is low key the funniest part of the show.

I have been told I just need to get through the first season. How does a show even get renewed if everyone has so much problem just getting through the first season?

Emily Hampshire is fantastic in the 12 Monkeys show, which is so much better than I’d imagined it could be. She plays Brad Pitt’s role.
any HIMYM stans want to make the case for the shows greatness?
The show was very consistent and over the years built up a ton of running gags (Robin Sparkles, Slap Bet, etc) and classic TV moments and sayings. The Bro Code, Legen wait for it Dary, etc. The plot was very thought out and each detail was carefully planned and greatly executed, the yellow umbrella, duckie tie, etc.
It has a unique narration style that allowed the timeline to shift and for flashbacks etc to be told smoothly. The show also has two of the single saddest moments in any sitcom I’ve watched, except maybe that Scrubs episode. If you’ve watched the show, you probably know which two I’m taking about.
It’s easily watchable as a comfort show and if you want to be engaged with it. There’s a lot of recurring characters but the narrations allows for casual watching.
The show did run for too long which was the fault of the network but most shows on this list did too. Most didn’t like the ending but I did.
I also enjoyed the running sandwich-as-substitution-for-pot gag.
Also not a HIMYM *stan*, per se, but I think it's really good as three-camera sitcoms go. The cast was solid-to-great, and had excellent chemistry together. The writing was, overall, pretty clever, and the way it played with time and narrative structure often made for some unexpectedly fun and/or surprising moments, which isn't easy to do in a format that's so well-worn. As a New Yorker, there were also a lot of in-jokes about and little references to city living that I appreciated (the whole "Dowisetrepla" thing is funny on its own, but if you've seen the renaming of Hell's Kitchen to "Clinton Hill" and Bushwhick to "East Williamsburg," it particularly hits home).
The ending of it is a goddamn travesty and it, like so many other network sitcoms, puts up a poor show for representation, but I'd otherwise go to bat for it in a general sense.

it was originally broadcast on CBC in canada and some channel called Pop in the US. I don't htink it really blew up until later when Netflix got the first two seasons for streaming, and the subsequeny seasons after they were broadcast. so by the time it hit netflix people were able to binge it

Oh thank you for reminding me I need to finish watching that show. It was really good.
