Like pinkstickynote last year was my first time going to iii points (embarrassing to admit since I've been in Miami for 6 years now).
That said, very very great crowd overall, by far the best festival crowd I've experienced anywhere. Most everyone was in high spirits, easy-going and just there for the music...the stage layout and schedule make it so everyone at a given set was there for that specific act and therefore really into the show, and not there to camp or clout-chase. Overall just a great time and great people; if you're truly there for the music, you'll feel right at home
I thought it was very great outside of the Rosalia, Flume & Fisher sets, which brought out a lot people there just for the scene and thus watered down the experience. But that was offset and then some by the truly top-notch crowds at Orbital, Sequence, and of course Despacio.

oh forgot probably the coolest thing about iii points i noticed last year: the main stage usually fully clears out after each artist. my gf and i got to day one super late bc my car broke down on the way but after porter robinson, literally everyone besides a couple left the main stage so we were able to walk right up to near-center rail for lcd soundsystem. more people stuck around the next day for rosalía but joji -> flume -> rosalía seems like a progression that more people would be cool staying put for
I say Hialeah because I feel it's the most recognizable undesirable part of miami, but Kendall works perfectly too. Traffic and attitude bb. Yes these places are very anti-communist, but that's def not what I'm talking about. Obviously gusanos gonna gusano... We all got our journeys right. Those who are born and raised in Miami usually come from these places out West - Kendall, Hialeah, Miami Springs, etc... They see a lot of transplants, people that come and go often, and I believe that creates this special brand of cynicism and coldness. Usually there's a warmness somewhere in there, but it's a hard nut to crack. Like you really got put time in to earn their affection. Also there is this underlying pedal to the metal bit when it comes to aggression. Idk. I don't really leave the beach anymore cuz the rest of Miami always got me feeling some type of way.

Great point here. The Fisher set is where I felt the most uncomfortable. We had a run-in with a few from the Hialeah/Kendall crowd that I could've done without.
And S3QUENC3 always has the vibes and is usually where I hang out, me being a total slut for techno and all.
The vibes were off hard last year. It was giving Hialeah, but in the worst way... At least around the Mind Melt stage and the 'Outer Space' stage that I believe was just a last year thing.
It's normally not like that tho. And I was really enjoying the vibe around S3QUENC3 while I was there. Hopefully this year it will return to form.
I didn’t go last year but I thought the vibes were way off in 2021.

The crowds are fine as long as you’re not at a basic ass bitch populous set like Fisher/Flume/Chris Lake etc. Last year was my third year and almost every show I went to other than Rosalia I got pretty close in a matter of minutes, everyone kinda empty’s out after every show. You can Uber all around Miami pretty cheap, solid food all around, the best restaurant is this Mediterranean place called Mandolin near the design district, easily the best baba ganoush and humus I’ve ever had and I’ve had it everywhere. If you want to eat closer to the venue, Omaki is down the street from the fest and has great sushi, highly recommend the Scottish salmon (also I’m told Jaar eats there when he’s in town). The last few times I’ve stayed in Miami Springs which is nice and has great breakfast spots to grab coffee and guava pastries to start the day. If you’re looking to ball out The Standard near the beach is your go to. Even if this isn’t the best lineup it’s produced, III Points is still the best, 5am close, the Sequence stage, the after parties, and then you have the coolest city in the South to explore after it ends.

Having time to reflect I’m gonna lose my shit when Iggy crowdsurfs and plays “TV Eye”. Also been blasting Fred’s “Strong” which is a bop. Polachek on the Mind Melt playing AOTY will be incredible, it’s going to be fun gents.
Edit: Beach House released a new EP, they or M83 need to open for Fred. Hopefully they’re not still pissed about James Blake being above them in 19

Cuz nothing says rock n roll quite like an 80 year old crowdsurfing child rapist.

You're so cool
I just think it's funny that we allow spaces in the scene for people like Iggy Pop, but banish others. Why? Because so many years have gone by? Because they are "legends"? There's hypocrisy in that.

Historically speaking this is the typical boomer rockstar
Still think we get Summit again if he’s on this and was at last year’s fest? I know he just moved downtown, but gotta assume he’s gonna do several club shows and this on top of the previous III Points seems like overkill. Already assuming Fisher won’t return again. Would love to see Astra Club at III Points. Caught a bit at Coachella.
Also, anyone tied into Space have anything on the special guest? 👀
Looks like the special guest has now magically shifted to Patrick Topping.

Get into it, gurl.
this place is weirdly sympathetic towards rapists, especially if theyre older because “that was the culture!”
i dont really bother bringing it up anymore because the discussion doesnt go anywhere and no one is gonna change their opinions so its not worth it. but it is comforting to see someone else calling it out so thank u for that.

some of us are just less obsessed with being morally superior.
