I will say that probably more than any other city on this list you know what you're getting into with Vegas. It's literally nicknamed Sin City. Doing exactly what they are known for isn't exactly preying on people.
I mean, I guess? But I don't know that somebody advertising that they're evil makes them any less evil.
That said, I kind of disagree, because while Vegas puts out there what it is, the tactics employed by the businesses that operate there are really fucking gross and insidious. All that shit people talk about Facebook, Instagram, and other social media networks using to psychologically manipulate people and destroy their mental health? The casino industry does the same kind of thing, except with the express purpose of bleeding people dry of their money.
Again, if that were just, like, one small aspect of the Vegas experience, I don't think it'd bug me as much, but it's kind of the main thing. Like, "You can actually see some shows there, too!" doesn't quite make up for it, for me. I realize it's a YMMV sort of situation, and again, part of it is that I've never had enough disposable income to feel anything but horrible about the idea of gambling what money away I do have. But I just find the whole operation kinda heinous.
i take no issue with you or anyone being repelled by the brazenness of it all. even though i kind of respect it? i'm a legit cokehead/drunk in recovery and everywhere i go some company or organization or piece of media is lowkey trying to prey on my addictions and part me from my money. at least vegas is like "yes we are going to do all of those things, come visit."
I've honestly not ever really heard any positives about Miami. Surprised it has so little votes.
Minneapolis seems cool based on my friend who went to University of Minneapolis's Instagram. But maybe that's just instagram
I’ve started on Miami the last two rounds and only moved because so few people were voting for it and I had opinions about the ones that were getting voted for.
Personally, my life would not be affected one bit if I never went back to Vegas.
My life wouldn’t be affected if I never went to/back to most of these places. Is your life going to change a lot if you never go back to (or to, if you haven’t been already) Minneapolis or Honolulu?

I've never been to Honolulu, so I can't say (but I imagine it wouldn't be affected). Minneapolis, absolutely, I will be upset if I never make it back (but I know I will).

If “artists spawned” does matter at all, Minneapolis should get a pass for a couple more rounds on Prince, alone. That’s not even getting into Husker Du, the Replacements, Morris Day & the Time, the Doomtree collective, Bob Dylan, the Jayhawks, Babes in Toyland, Atmosphere, Lizzo…now that I dig into it, Minneapolis may punch above its weight class in this category more than any other city on the list.

This is true. I don’t think people realize Minneapolis has so many great local artists and Atmosphere.
