I didn't know who this is but it made my brother really, really hyped when I said she might be here in some capacity
Ya, it’s a pretty big deal if you’re into composing. Probably her biggest pieces were the Piano Transplants where she burned or submerged pianos. Very Fluxus, very avant-garde inspired art.
There’s not a ton streaming but a decent 3 song compilation on Spotify:
It’s a good start.
I’m hopeful this was a tease and not just to bring more light to her shadow.

Interesting. He had a duo that dropped an album “Music for Saxofone and Bass Guitar” a few years ago that was great. I haven’t thought about him since then but he’s apparently part of that Psychic Hotline stable of artists.

From that Fader article:
Prior to this he released Satin Doll, an album of jazz standards reworked through a psychedelic hip-hop lens, and performed live as part of both Moses Sumney and Perfume Genius’s band.

Also hoping Perfume Genius is on this shindig.
Would have fit right in on last year's lineup, and feels similar size to Moses. Plus that last album was on the experimental side. Book it

He’s played before. 2015 or 2016 but I forget exactly when. I do remember he played the Tennessee and it was half full and the dudes in front of me hated it.

Can I just say how delighted I am that Big Ears used the correct "Ten Years of Big Ears" designation instead of the misused "10th Anniversary of Big Ears?" They deserve an extra $500k in grants for that alone.
Lineup dropped September 14th last year looks like. Hopefully it's just a few weeks out!
For reasons even I can't begin to explain... I'm a fan of data and have captured some statistics about Big Ears over the years.
Not sure if these dates are 100% accurate, but here are all of the initial line-up announcements that I have (didn't collect any info for the first three events):

So, roughly speaking, the average announcement date is October 6th. Doesn't mean anything, of course, but... IT'S DATA!!!
Love this. Hoping the redesign of the website and socials with the new color scheme means it comes sooner rather than later.
It does look like last year was a bit of an outlier though in terms of being early. I think they maybe did a first wave and then filled it in with more acts later on?
The ultra-nerdy version of this would be to cross-reference it with what day the festival actually started each year and have it presented as the number of days before the festival

My assumption is this means just Allison Russell? Brandi would be pretty cool but feels like she'd be at or near the top of the lineup and not sure if they tease the big names this far out
