It is…much wilder than that, hence the thing I don’t think he was supposed to say. You would not believe how much money they are making off this thing
EDIT: but 90% is what I was told for W2 also so that’s one thing Supre isn’t making up.
just spill the beans and give a range lol
We could probably guesstimate pretty well. Last public gross figures were 2017 with $114 mil. If you just do 200k sales of $600 ga and then say 40k sales of $1000 vip youre at $165 mil on tickets. So its bordering $200 mil with all the camping/extra sales i bet. I wanna know what they clear on merch.
Oh and I’ll come back later with more details but short version is my wife and I hung out with one of the guys who oversees ticket sales for about 20 minutes. He said this is easily the most W2 tickets they have sold in the past several - he said it outsold 2022, 2019, even Beyoncé year. They are thrilled with how many they sold. They were leaning tickets up because they just don’t care if it looks sold out or not anymore.
So I think all the hand wringing about low demand this year was wasted energy lol because they are celebrating.
And this is definitely the most crowded W2 I’ve ever been to, it is ducking packed. Not in a bad way Labrinth aside.
I was very happy to be wrong about all the hand wringing! W1 felt just as packed as normal and it's great to hear reports that W2 sold well and is more packed than normal. Definitely looks that way on the streams. Would love if they continued leaving up tickets like this because it makes planning a big group way easier.
Coachella till 6 am would kill me. Unless music starts at 5-6pm in the afternoon.
Bonnaroo is a sauna but Coachella is a tanning bed. The sun just burns you up.
Yeah I agree Coachella doesn't need to go that late. It works for Primavera because the festival starts later and it's a festival in a city with multiple public transit options. Coachella has neither of these

If he wasn't supposed to say and weekend 2 sold ~110k, I would guess that they oversold the 125k festival capacity weekend one. Which would be wild! Really hope the good sales translate into another year of booking headliner level acts for the second line in bold font and more of the "Returning to the Desert" stuff.

What does this mean?
Think he meant to write "leaving tickets up". Pretty sure you could just buy a weekend 2 pass and pull up to will call on the way into the fest if you needed one.

ah gotcha, thanks. I thought it was a colloquialism I didn't know or something lol

Porter really took everything unlikeable about EDM and put it on full display for his new(ish) live set. This was essentially his III Points set with maybe a bit less production because he was during the day at Coachella.
His 2015 set is what he should be doing. I get it that artists, specifically DJs/producers, want to do more to show off their talents, however this just isn’t it. At electronic shows I want to see the producer find a way around the absolute cornball lyrics they have to put on their tracks to sell. Porter has been trying his absolute hardest to put his lyrics and vocal chops on display and it’s left me cringing and wanting him to get away from whatever this new show is.
Haven’t made this hard of a 180 on an artist in a while. Even his Virtual Self shows were fun.

I quite liked his recent album, but yeah, I can see why this new live show wouldn’t hit. I thought it was pretty good, but agree his old Worlds live show was much better. These mark the last two shows for this cycle, so curious what’s next for him.
After returning to Coachella and falling in love once again, I have no desire to revisit most festivals nor check out new festivals in the US. Internationally, sure, would love to explore Dekmantel, Sonar, Primavera, and some others for the first time. But for me, Coachella firmly holds the gold crown. Nothing else compares on its scale. The only other festival I'm sworn to is Sustain-Release, but that's almost a different thing entirely.
100% agree - i really wish GV would do Panorama in nyc again though. atleast then i could sleep in my own bed all three nights with an awesome lineup

I actually really liked what Porter did with his live setup this year and feel it's in line with his most recent album (which I enjoyed more than any of his other output). I did the opposite 180 seeing the stream. This would have me way more interested in a future Porter set. Makes me bummed they didn't give him a late set counter to a headliner so I could see him. This is kinda what I wish Flume had tried to do last year.
But I will also always prefer a lackluster attempt at a show with maximal live elements compared to a polished set that's largely pre-programmed. Messing with knobs and sliders for an hour or occasionally playing along to a melody with a patch fed into a midi controller just isn't very ambitious or entertaining to me. To each their own though!

They had Frank Ocean and none of ya'll gave a crap about the following year and thats all it took. AND DESPACIO YEAR 1.
Have a feeling blink and skrill are gonna be empty. There’s nobody at bjork
I’d imagine it’ll fill out later on (though probably post-Bjork). Think Dominic Fike & the outdoor stage acts in general are pulling a lot of the crowd rn.

Yeah. And right now everyones at Outdoor. Indio Central is slammed and everyones standing on the tables.
Doubt it means anything, buts it interesting why they label the trio as Four Tet x Fred Again & Skrillex. Is that like, 4T x Fred are a duo backing up skrill?
