Doubt it means anything, buts it interesting why they label the trio as Four Tet x Fred Again & Skrillex. Is that like, 4T x Fred are a duo backing up skrill?
where you seeing that? in the updated lineup on coachella's instagram story it's x x

on the livestream schedule for the coachella stage. i guess maybe just human error.
Okay, I had a great time and I get that Coachella isn’t only about the headliners, but I definitely don't feel like I can really rely on Coachella to follow through on their best bookings anymore. This is now 2 years in a row that I’ve been burned really bad by this

Boygenius Gorillaz Jai Paul 2manydj’s Jd Beck & Domi
El Michels bringing out Black Thought was wild in that setting. I LOVED Gorillaz so the fact Boygenius topped that is a shout out to how great they were. Seeing Four Tet in the middle of the main stage grounds right now is very cool but you are definitely getting a mix of the gang that waters this down for me. Saw about 24 acts this week which is an all time low but it’s just because we are old and can’t book it all around the grounds like we used too. Tristan saw us at our drunkest for the weekend today but that subsided after about 35 minutes due to sweating it out in this heat. we are both hot and bothered. Also didn’t know Coachella booked comedy acts in 2023 but Marc Rebillet roasted the main stage Saturday and it was fun to watch.

Coachella seems like they did every thing they could do to accommodate Frank and I don’t know what else to say other than it sounds like he canceled on them. Shouts out to them for the original booking and to them trying to fill the void. I’ve been to festivals with cancellations and no replacement. This is nice for a scramble.
I mean, they could have just gone through with the luke warm show
Frank is the one who cancelled Weekend 2. I don't see how this is on GV at all
I’m not saying GV is solely responsible. They are far, far less responsible for it than Frank. That being said, it seemed like they had their mind made up going into Monday about switching him out. I get why they did it and I understand it was probably what was best for business. On top of it, they got some pretty huge names last minute, even if they didn’t really appease Frank’s crowd in a meaningful way. That being said, I guarantee they had a robust contract with Frank that made it exceptionally hard for him to bail given his history. Fans bought tix to see him and the expectation was that he would show. They knew how mercurial he can be going into it and didn’t like when they got what they bargained for to an extent. They also know that seeing him is a pretty huge deal amongst his fans and that we are delusional enough to trick ourselves into enjoying the weekend 1 show over blink/phm. I just feel like they could have worked with him or hard pressed him to at least give the fans the bare minimum

Blondie was a moment as well. I saw a set my parents would wish I’d seen in their heyday out of Debbie. I saw a set my childhood self would die for in Gorillaz, and I saw 2 sets I’ll tell my kids they needed to see in Boygenius and Jai Paul. This was a wild year that I was scared would never happen again when 2020 got cancelled. This fest lives up to the hype every time
My review of my W1 Coachella experience… almost a full week after the fact. But better late than never, am I right, Frank Ocean? (Gonna put it in a spoiler tag, it's damn long and I don't want to muddy things up unless you really care to read.)
Thursday couldn’t have worked out any more smoothly for our group. The king himself shuck arrived in LA one day early to get our camp group’s essentials purchased and other affairs in order so Jaz and I could show up at LAX Thursday early afternoon and drive straight to Indio. We arrived a little after 4PM and the camping arrivals line was practically non-existent and our security check was minimal. We were ushered into Lot 10 (which is the same lot I’ve been in all four of my Coachellas) but on the very northeastern side, super close to camp center and an eight minute walk to the entrance. Perfect! We set up camp, had a beer, our fourth campmate and I won some silly game we played in the camp center, then we walked over to the famous Lot 5 Hill to watch the sunset (which I had not done before…). We got there exactly 5 minutes before sunset. And as the crowd cheered on this simple act that happens every single day, I thought to myself “Fuck, I’m coming back next year, aren’t I?”
FRIDAY
The Comet is Coming -> Soul Glo -> First Despacio visit -> MUNA -> Wet Leg -> Blink 182 -> Blondie -> Gorillaz -> Chemical Brothers -> A bit of Bad Bunny
Musical Highlight of the Day: Fucking Chemical Brothers, what else could it possibly be?!? Visuals were unbelievable, I loved the setlist and I danced the hardest I danced at one set all weekend. Criminally under-attended and I was able to walk up to the rail EASILY during the last 5 songs. I’m so glad I stayed mostly sober so I can still remember 95% of that set.
Food Highlight of the Day: Omusubi from Sunny Blue in the Indio Central Market
Emotional Highlight of the Day: Waiting in the crowd of people at 11:45 AM, where the excitement is vibrating and contagious and energy levels are at 110% as we wait for the gates to open. Making new friends that you’ll run into unexpectedly at Soul Glo 2 hours later, helping other groups take photos, drinking a few beers to pass the time.
SATURDAY
Horsegirl -> SnailMail -> Dinner Party -> Charli XCX -> Remi Wolf -> A tiny bit of Rosalia -> About half of Jai Paul -> boygenius -> Underworld -> Eric Prydz -> Chromeo -> Keinemusik
Musical Highlights of the Day: I can’t limit it to just one this day, easily the best day of music for me. Underworld made me legitimately feel like I was in an underground club somewhere in London in the 90s. Charli was just as incredible of a performer as I imagined she would be and I’m so glad I was finally able to scratch her off of my bucket list. Boygenius was beautiful and I wished I would have been able to see the whole set. La Roux coming out with Chromeo to do Bulletproof absolutely blew my mind because I would have never in a million years expected to hear that song live. And wrapping it up with Keinemusik dropping Sweet Disposition into one of their mixes was the cherry on top of a perfect day of music. My ONLY regret from the day is leaving Rosalia for Jai Paul.
Food Highlight of the Day: Prince Street Pizza. Life changing. I literally haven’t stopped talking about it since.
Emotional Highlight of the Day: The amazingly friendly couple we met in Mojave while waiting for Jai Paul. They were a delight, and they provided shuck and I with some beautiful face glitter.
SUNDAY
Ferris Wheel -> Los Bitchos -> LP Giobbi -> The house party thing outside of Yuma -> like three songs of Big Wild -> Romy -> 2manydjs -> Bjork -> the last twenty minutes of Despacio -> Sudan Archives -> Frank Ocean
Musical Highlight of the Day: Bjork. I have to say I’m not a huge Bjork fan or anything, but there has never been, and probably will never be, as beautiful of a live performance. Watching the group next to us start doing yoga mid set and Jaz joining in is probably another thing I’ll never see again at a festival set. The drones were a nice touch, too. 2manydjs would have had a slight advantage over Bjork for me personally, but they were plagued with such a shitty time slot.
Food Highlight of the Day: Arincinis from the random Italian place in the Craft Beer Barn area. Best bang for your buck at only $10 for three good sized pieces and a delicious spicy marinara dipping sauce.
Emotional Highlights of the Day: While dancing in blazing hot sun to 2manydjs, spraying the people around me with my mister fan, one man in particular is super enjoying it. He gives me the “yes I need more!” look, I spray him several times in a row and then he offers me a shot of tequila. Good karma points secured. Oh and also experiencing the very end of Despacio, where they played “Here Comes the Sun” and lit that disco ball SO FUCKING bright yellow, and everyone had their hands up pointed toward it, it felt like we were praising the sun god or something. Magical.
I will say that the biggest disappointment is that I had two back to back questionable experiences to end the weekend on, Sudan Archives and Frank Ocean. SA was clearly having some technical issues which caused them to start their set about 30 minutes late. At least I got to see Freakalizer, Selfish Soul, and NBPQ before shuck and I were like “Welp Frank is starting soon, better head over…” How little did we know!
Yes, he was stupid late. Yes, the pauses between songs were too long and very awkward. Yes, the set ended very weirdly and abruptly. But I didn’t actually hate what I saw. The mixes and reworkings of his songs were good, the audio quality was exceptional, the thing they did by expanding the screen into one huge, long continuous screen was pretty cool. Like, if he did scrap the ice skating rink at the last fucking second, then that sucks and he’s just shitty. But, if he legit had medical issues (physical or whatever) that were preventing him from doing what he originally planned, then you kinda have to forgive him. I just don’t know which to believe.
Regardless of how it all went down, even though the last three-ish hours at the festival were not its strongest showing, I still found myself packing up camp on Monday morning, extremely sad to have to return to normal life, figuring out whether I was going to go for W1 or W2 tickets in June.

Based on media accounts think it was pretty clear by Sunday that Frank didn't want to play which is why he made all those outrageous demands on and proceeded to play a phoned in a half ass set and used his "injury" to get out of playing this weekend. It sucks I was very excited to see him, but I also knew when I purchased a ticket and made travel plans there was a good chance he wouldn't play based on his history. With only a few days notice I think GV made the best out of a bad situation with Blink and PHM.

Why weekend 2?
Mostly because I want to be able to watch the streams W1 and plan my days according to what I liked/didn't like on the stream. I don't necessarily need to feel "surprised." Example: if I would have been able to watch Jai Paul's stream W1 I would have known I could have just stayed at Rosalia W2.

(It’s Weekend Two.)
Why weekend 2?
There is a camaraderie amongst weekend 2 that seems to be lessened during weekend one from what I gather as a weekend 2er. The artists enjoy it more from what they say, as do the double weekend attendees. That doesn’t go for every one but it’s definitely the majority of the people I meet. We have made friends out of every neighboring camper and people next to us in every crowd at every show. I’ve had several people ask if we want to have a picture taken of us in the middle of a show because of how hard we are cheesing at the artists. I feel taken care of when I come here weekend 2.
Yeah I will give W2 a slight advantage on "the vibes."
Didn’t mean to step on your rational and tangible reasons for weekend two. Im not even a vibes person, but I’d be lying if I said I didn’t feel vibrations this weekend. A buddy of mine flew out from Detroit last minute, got a ride at the eleventh hour from LAX when he saw someone else with a wristband in the airport, and has been sleeping behind a different group every night in a tent someone gave him. It is a feeling out here. 3/4 of our neighbors just came over for a goodbye hug when we got back to camp. I’ve never met these people and probably won’t again.
