Wow thats crazy
You should see what they did for short terms in the cities surrounding coachella. You cannot rent anything under 30 days in some areas. So some owners legit charge like what they would for a average saty of 3 or 4 days. ( $10k) and it just stays empty for the month til the people arrive for their dates.
Muse feels likely to me at this point. I think something probably changed in their Duluth plans. Their North American tour has 20 dates already, which is 1 more than their Sim Theory tour had, so a second North American leg seems unlikely. They're not just going to ignore the entire Southeast. Would be surprised at no Nashville date, though.
Making housing more affordable is generally a good thing
I doubt many people come in from out of town for Shaky anyway. This year was a huge exception for me where I liked pretty much every act on the lineup
I feel like a lot of people come from near by states to Shaky. I’ve met a lot of people from North Carolina and Florida there. Plus like 5-10 friends and myself go every year and we are 4 hours away in South Carolina and about 6 of us have the shaky tattoo. I’ve met others from Ohio and other places too. Shaky is just a good fest that caters to the niche indie acts that people would travel to for a lineup that fits their taste.

Theory just for the sake of it: they booked Arcade Fire as a headliner and replaced them when the accusations happened, maybe a last second change of plans for Muse.

We've been coming from the Baltimore area since the 2015 edition. I came solo that first year and stayed with family out towards Dunwoody, but we have been a group of 5 doing hotels/Airbnb since. I would hazard a guess that a good chunk of the attendees are not from ATL proper. Even if it's only 25%, that's still 10k people looking for a place to stay for the weekend. If SK happens this year, we will make it work.

It's been long in the works. I guess growing up, surviving cancer, and finding out aliens exist was enough to mend the wounds. But I don't think there's been an official announcement of anything?

Not yet, but theyre ramping things up. Socials have been scrubbed. Website also. Lollapalooza Chile announces Tuesday and theyre heavily rumored to be playing the south america ones. And Blink should be around most likely due to playing Bamboozle in Jersey.
Wonder if Tim would book Billy Strings for Shaky. Outside of playing a short set at the Outlaw fest in Atlanta, pretty sure the last time he played an official show in ATL was December 2021.
Tim booked him for Innings Fest a few years back. Avett Brothers have headlined before so I don't feel like it would be too much of a stretch.

Seems unlikely but who knows. I would say 0% chance as a headliner if that was part of the question.

I would love to have a night like Lolla this past summer of Billy -> Metallica. Seems like a pipe dream.
Just noticed Billy played Sea Hear Now a few weeks ago. Isn't that another one of Tim’s festivals?

blink 182 might be a little out of SK’s price range I feel. That’s one of those tours that hits the majors and does arenas and then smaller fests the year after.

Depeche Mode is way more out of their price range.

I think you are both underestimating blink’s pull and overestimating Depeche Mode’s pull in the south
