Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
Anyone see Turnstile? They were definitely the strangest booking on the lineup and I'm wondering how they went over
I saw Turnstile, they were a lot of fun... Lots of hardcore Turnstile fans in attendance and they made the experience even more enjoyable for me... Which is the opposite of how I felt about Excision and his creepy mccreeperton fans.
Does anybody have info on the powwow Setlist? I searched on Sunday and couldn’t find anything. Besides Paak doing bubbling. Still super jelly of the powwow before Paak Man came out!
Idk. I pretty much hated the Powow. I was there for Goose and they barely got featured AT ALL. The Free Nationals are giving and will forever be giving Late Night tv talkshow band vibes. They basic. And the guitarist is fake af... Don't yell for mushrooms to be thrown on the stage and then not eat them when they are thrown on said stage... He was more about posing for the camera than anything else. Paak was fun, but y'all, unless you are a hardcore fan of Free Nationals, this wasn't the tea.

Aww that stinks. I was excited. I guess Goose didn’t do too much with the powwow then :/. Was Big Boi there?

Yes he was another highlight of the powow. Good stuff.

Please elaborate on this; I'm tardy for my afternoon tea.

I’ve never seen or been interested in throwing my fudging X up so I’m all about this tea too
The reddit thread was legit crazy seeing people confirm stories to a family friend by describing the guys tattoo location. Seems like a terrible accident that could have been avoided with better water security the first night.

I've tried to respond to this with the all the details twice now, but every time I get back into work someone has exited out of my damn screen. I'm gonna try to go through it much quicker this rip, condense the details... Third times a charm.
Before I get into the X stuff, Carlita and Daily Bread did what needed to be done on Thursday.
Had a great time at Peekaboo but all the X fans were camping. Lots of couches. Lots of weirdos... But not the good kind. One girl with X garb creepy stared at me all throughout the Peekaboo set. At one point she even came over and talked to her friend directly in my dance space and slowly rocked her body until she creepy touched me. X came on while my friend took forever in the bathroom. The first thing he said was "Are ya'll ready for some hard fn bass." Turns out I was not ready. I stood in absolute horror. There are some X songs I have heard and thought 'ok this isn't that bad'... None of those were played. Friends exit the bathroom and we try to make it through the crowd. No one would let us out. One guy who had built a living room with a giant rug and multiple couches almost fought me because we cut through his little space. I just wanted to escape the horrible music and vibes that were completely changing my experience for the worst.
We continue walking past the Here stage but the unholy sounds of X were still penetrating every fibre of our being. We got back to vip camp by Jungle (other side of grounds) and X could still be heard. I was trapped in a living nightmare. I looked down at my homie Jacks and they were literally curled up on the floor in a fetal position. Eventually we all jumped in my van and put on Tipper full blast and slowly calmed down. Thank Dave we can be tipped remotely in a van together. About 15 after 2 we emerged from the van and all was clear. At that point tho we just called it a night. Personally I was still shook.
Friday started off strong (I LOVE FLAVA D) but then one of my main homies got the word that her dad had journeyed on. I'm so grateful for that early night we took cuz I was able to be there for my homie until our friends came from Miami to pick her up. I had to decompress after so I lounged until about an hour before Goose. We rode rail and met some of the most incredible people who loved Goose as much as we did. Idk where my new Goose friends Joe and Roland went after the show but if somehow they read this... I love you guys! Thanks for taking a trip with a stranger. I met a guy with a shirt that said 'Not 100% sold on Goose' and I thought of some people on this forum, haha. I told him if somehow he got to 100% he was going to have to lose the shirt, but I think he was shy tho so we never got those moobs out. I am 150% sure he was already 250% sold on Goose. I want Goose at every festival. I want to be at every Goose show... And I'm just saying I will never ever attend another festival that books Excision.
We ended the night at a 4am Player Dave set at Incendia and it was absolutely perfect. This was the best that Incendia has ever looked and felt. Hats off. Walking back towards camp was weird tho... There were a lot of people having difficult experiences. I mean they were EVERYWHERE. No medical. No ground control. No nothing. Back at camp things continued to get weirder... A naked man ran into our camp, as well as others, getting very close to everyone and screaming something about time and that "NO ONE WILL REMEMBER!" Unfortunately for this man everyone is not only going to remember, I'm going to be telling everybody. Sorry to that man. Eventually he was rounded up and taken to ground control, but apparently he disappeared because I later I saw them cruising the grounds looking for him.
I did my little Sober Saturday. Like I said before... I wasn't happy with the PoWow, but Anderson Paak was so much fun. Tinlicker wasn't what I thought it would be and they were f0cking up a lot. GRiZ was fun but I'm pretty sure he wasn't actually doing anything except for jumping around. (His secret set at Incendia on Sunday really highlighted his talent tho). Esseks, The Widdler, and Pushloop were Aquachobee highlights... And Big Boi was fn great. Oh I must mention that they switched the Big Boi and Earth Wind & Fire timeslots and didn't give anyone any notice so I was accidentally on rail for fn EWF and it was just awful. Luckily I escaped the Be stage much easier than on Thursday at X.
Sunday was a lot of fun... I enjoyed every set I was at... Nia Archives, Biig Piig, Chris Lorenzo, Supertask, Turnstile, Yeti, MErsiv, LSDREAM, GRiZ, and Sven Vath. Unfortunately at Sven Vath the phone stealing brigade done got me.
If Okee continues, this will be my last Okeechobee I will ever attend. They not only scaled back production, shade, food options and availability in VIP, but scaling back ground control, medical tents, and security around a retention pond that is filled with water so dark it looks like cococacola (which caused an unfortunate drowning)... It's just too much. I can't do Insomniac. Many years ago, Okee woke me back up... It brought me back to life and set me on a path that I can be proud of, but I can no longer hang.
Incredible review. Sorry for your friend, glad Dave was able to settle y’all back down on Thursday evening. Reading your stories def put me back right at Okee. Those were some wild times for me lol. Sorry about your phone too. My homegirls bf got his phone stolen from him last year, hear pickpocketers have gotten out of hand down there. Glad there was still plenty of good to balance out the bad

In case anyone was interested, here's a great quality full ODESZA video from last week. I was directly to the right of these people on the mirror side of the middle walkway... we were very close. I camped about 45 minutes before their set, and while I hate doing that normally it was 100% worth it because the crowd was so respectful and kind. One of the best sets I've ever seen. With the pyro, clean drumline and horns, live vocalists, killer light show, great sound mixing, insane fireworks (not shown in the vid sadly but you can hear it... just trust me, they were UNBELIEVABLE)... ODESZA is absolutely deserving of a headliner slot now. I am so proud of how far they've come. What a show this was! Currently rewatching and I'm crying, again. So glad to have been a part of this. If you're seeing them at Bonnaroo this year, you're in for a treat.

Thanks bubba and lol throughout (not about your friend’s dad) but I was understanding the roller coaster of shit you dealt with. Only off thing was last time I wanted to throw my X up, I thought that show was soft. I usually watch lost lands but otherwise I only saw him one other time with Protohype back in 2014. That show ruled. So I’m 1-1. I’ll be up another hour so I think I’m going to search for Okee videos.

Hehehe I don’t want to watch too much cause I’m hype for roo but dang this looks awesome.

Okeechobee this year was… scary. Security was nonexistent, and as someone who enjoys bringing drinks in to the main stage area this was pretty cool. Nobody really cared about people bringing things in and at first that was cool.
I only got scared during a few acts where I watched people hop the rail and dance in the space between the stage and the rail, and security just watched them do it. They didn’t do a single thing except watch them. I hung back for the most part after that since I realized if security wasn’t going to do shit about that, they weren’t going to do shit about anything serious.
The lack of medical wasn’t cool. Had a friend need medical from someone throwing a beatbox in their face (really just needed a sanitary place to get her contacts out and rinse her eyes, girl was blind) and got directed a 15 minute walk outside of the main stage to a medical tent.
The death was extremely unfortunate, and to make things even weirder the fest decided to keep the lake open for the rest of the weekend after a man DIED IN IT.
Overall, I did have fun. I’m glad I went. Daily Bread, Memba, Peekaboo, Soul Clap Thursday. Wreckno, Wilkinson, Channel Tres, Odesza on Friday. Local Natives, EWF, Tinlicker, Griz, Powow Saturday. Zingara, Dirty Heads, Turnstile, Mersiv, LSDream, Griz, Sven Vath Sunday. Solid, solid, solid weekend of music. Discovered a $7 vegan ice cream on Friday that got me through the weekend I think I ate 6 of those things and I’m not even vegan.
Coming back to say they gave us Excision without any lasers and that was fucking WEIRD
They figured why waste the money, most would be in a K-hole. The rest would be too drunk and forget the events of the evening. Yet, you somehow emerged from the rubble with minor mental scars and a tale to tell. We thank you for your service.

Yeah it was not the vibe. Obviously some talented musicians up there, but there was just A LOT going on... Their horn section got to show off at the PoWow tho so good for them.

I'm only playing, I totally get the wrong band showing up to your rail spot is a vibe killer.

Man that's what kills me, the fact that they KEPT THE LAKE OPEN after someone died in it. That's fucking gross idc what anyone says.
Also I concur about your views with security. They were clearly there for a paycheck and didnt give af about safety. One med tent is laughable for 30kish ppl. There were definitely more tents in the past. I saw a lot of wild shit this year that required medical attention to which ppl just said "ah well we'll deal with this ourselves" that probably shouldn't have
And no posts about next year by now makes me think they're just taking the L and saying screw next year. Which sucks bc I know a ton of ppl with backgrounds in lifeguard and security experience who are local to the area that would have chomped at the bit to work this fest. Soundslinger accepted more local help vs Insomniac from what I've witnessed. So much usage wasted
I ran into a friend who has worked the fest several years and she lamented about the fact that there was no one there. I didn't think anything of it until we left, on the way out I saw no less than 5 huge multi-acre parking plots with spray painted parking lines ready to go, but completely unused. My first year I had to park next to the fence at the entrance, aka a full house. I recently looked back on old vids... and yeah older years seemed way more populated. They need to figure out where they stand on what artists pull attendance. Idk I think they're done for which makes me sad bc it's really unique and could be truly great at its full potential.

I think they try too hard to be some weird mix between Hula, Roo, and Lost Lands. They’re unable to find the vibe, and I had a lot of friends decide not to come back this year to the addition of much heavier bass. Choosing Baby Keem and Excision to be billed that highly was an interesting choice I didn’t agree with. Okee seemed to lean this year into being a spring break fest, without respect for the artists who have loyal fans willing to travel- Tipper and Friends brings people out of the woodwork and although it’s a much smaller festival it has a devoted, rabid fan base that people travel for.
If Okee leaned into the arts, the experience, or the music they could be truly successful but they’re trying to wear way too many hats with the budget they have.
