There’s other things that are weird too like K-Pop. BTS is the only group that really gets radio play and charts well here and various groups have varying degrees of success on Spotify but then I’ll see a group like SEVENTEEN announce an arena tour here in the US. I feel like it’s hard to accurately judge how popular a lot of those acts are over here.

Sorry if folks wanted this thread to die, but just read the Stereogum review of the Fontaines show at Primavera and having seen them stateside myself I would definitely agree that they are headliner on.
Also caught Glass Animals at Boston Calling, and it reminded me a lot of of the Arctic Monkeys pre headline set at Firefly '14. Not sonically obviously but as far as the energy both in the crowd and on stage. It just felt like them claiming their place as a headliner next album cycle.

Fontaines had one of the biggest crowds of the weekend so far, at the very least theyre headline or bust in Europe pretty soon

Glass Animal's show at Buku felt like a headlining show even though it wasn't. I could totally see that happening.
