Disq is getting a ton of buzz now. Heard one song, really liked it, planning on checking out more of their music.
They either just played or are just about to play Brighton Music Hall, but Boston Calling often books artists who aren't near the top of the poster within months of a Boston club show.
Yep, like both of their albums, but I'm out of the loop in terms of what BC's thoughts are with smaller artists and the proximity clause.
If they booked The Killers to headline four months after they played TD Garden, they're not going to have any problem with an artist on the bottom half of the poster having played town three months before the festival, much less six months. They've had a number of low-on-the-poster artists who've done a club or ballroom show locally a few months before Boston Calling.

Yo La Tengo would be awesome. not holding my breath but that makes their chances look good. Dino Jr was set to play 2020 so YLT isnt that much of a stretch

Would love to have Yo La Tengo there. Looking at their tour schedule, it's interesting that the west coast dates have multiple days at each location, but only Nashville and Carrboro in the south do. I wonder if that means there will be a larger east coast tour during the summer and, if so, that eliminates BC.
Maybe I have nothing better to do between work meetings, an over-inflated opinion of Boston as a touring destination so immediately think that being left off of tour schedules is a sign, feel like throwing something against the wall to see if it sticks, or all of the above, but:
Shygirl a possibility?

She's got a lot of hype behind her, just released a debut album and we haven't talked about possible hip-hop artists much, if at all.

They almost seem too old school indie rock for what Boston Calling books now, post-Dessner. I've been hoping for Guided By Voices at Boston Calling for *years*, but it hasn't happened yet and I doubt that it will.
Dino, Jr. is a Massachusetts band, and they've shown a willingness to book artists with local and regional ties whom they probably wouldn't have booked if they were from Iowa.

Well, Hoboken, NJ is, umm, somewhat regional to MA, right? RIGHT? A man can dream.

Yeah I can’t believe the act that’s too small to headline BC is finally announcing their arena tour tomorrow. Bloc Party and Foals are listed as two of the openers on the tour.
Tour starts in May allegedly.
But who we kidding Paramore can’t possibly headline this fest, grandma don’t know Misery Business and she’s the one buying my ticket to this.

I did the first half of Paramore and the second half of the national and I’m pretty happy with my decision, not opposed to a full headline show if that’s what’s coming
unrelated to Paramore, this Cali Roots fest just announced most of their lineup, which is in Monterey the same weekend as BC. Not stylistically very similar to BC's general vibe, but there are definitely a few people on here that I wouldn't have been shocked to see on the BC lineup who are now most likely ruled out

Metallica played in CA on the Friday of Memorial Day weekend and closed BC on Sunday, so realistically Thursday and Friday performers for this fest could play Saturday or Sunday at BC. Similarly, Sunday performers could do BC on Friday.
Plus, many aren't bringing a large stage show like Metallica, so it would be cheaper to transport.
But I'd be shocked if any would be on the BC lineup.
