he does have a point that Paramore randomly became a headliner level act without doing anything.
Preach !!! 3rd on their day at ACL and now let’s all gush over them headlining ?
Prime time slot and headliner size crowd. Sold out warm up tour and likely sold out arena tour next year. Gee, how many boxes does the band have to check to get out of the bro prison. If it was MCR nobody would be saying they couldnt headline BC. I wonder why.

probably because MCR is a big reunion and already sold out an arena tour in seconds.
i hope it isnt as much of a buttrock lineup this year but even so, if we get something similar to 2022 i wouldnt be opposed. had a blast this year despite a lackluster bottom 2 lines. Best case would be a return to 2017 and 2018 style booking. those were just beautiful
This year would have landed a lot better had COVID and the weather not turned Saturday upside down.

agreed, but it would still be good to move out of the "80s/90s rock band headliners" theme for 2023.
i would guess that with deposits and cancellations and things, it may financially make the most sense for them to stick with that theme in 2023 though (like, if they'd otherwise be losing money from Rage, RHCP, and/or The Strokes being on lineups and then dropping.) I don't know enough about how the money works (and insurance on lineups and all that stuff) to know if that comes into play at all, but i wouldn't be surprised if it did.

And Paramore is getting their shot this week. And this is what is desired at BC?
i went back and read the 2017 and 2018 threads when the lineups were revealed and i dont think ive ever seen such a universal praise to a lineup again since, aside from maybe Primavera 2022 and Portola

So what overlap do people see with Sick New World. System of a Down would be a great third headliner, so Paramore/Strokes/System of A Down. Think they would fit the mold since my grandma LOVES chop suey.
Would love Death Grips to play not sure where they would be billed though, ho99o9 would be cool too. Also maybe give Fiddlehead a slot, they are from Boston too.
Well, Grandma *does* know Death Grips...and Kevin Gates (audio NSFW)

A lot of it was the sense of amazement at what we were getting, after the City Hall Plaza editions. (I'll still take fall 2014 over everything they've done at any other edition, even with scaled back number of performers at the original location. They hit the "something for everybody" sweet spot better there than they have since.)
For the record, Peter Gabriel is out as a potential headliner. (I just hope that he doesn't play Mansfield, or I'm going to have to pay someone a lot of money to drive me to and from the show.)

Third? More like 6th at best.
Weekend 2: RHCP and Kacey Musgraves head to head in the headlining time slot...Marcus Mumford, Goose, and Zhu in the 7-8 timeslot...and Paramore, Robert Glasper, and James Blake in the 6-7 time slot.
Same thing the previous week, if you exchange 6LACK for James Blake.

2017 was awesome and I traveled all the way from Missouri for it

Show me you don't know a damn thing about ACL without telling me you don't know a damn thing about ACL.
i hope george strait plays this, no boston shows scheduled
to each their own, but PLEASE NO COUNTRY. i dont want to deal with the crowd that brings. i get that the Strait crowd wouldn't be nearly as unbearable as something like a Chesney crowd but still, a country headliner is one of the only things that may get me to not go to one of the days

I'm fairly certain we don't have to worry about a big name country artist headlining this festival. Then again, all things are out the window with the new group running this since 2019. I'd say that BC is more of a Jason Isbell/Orville Peck/Sturgill Simpson/Billy Strings kind of country/americana festival if/when they go that route.

+Kacey Musgraves. But yeah, someone with crossover appeal vs straight (no pun intended) country
