Highly recommend checking out Brutus if you haven’t already. I knew they were pretty heavy, but the last album is killer front to back. Can’t wait for that set.
If anyone wants to see a laughably bad take. There’s a thread on Reddit discussing former headliners that could sub and there’s someone arguing that Roger Waters would be a sub today.
Oh, it's going to happen. I'm strongly considering moving to a smaller city with a lower cost of living sometime in the late 2024 - 2026 time frame, to help make the social security and retirement savings last longer when I retire in 4-6 years.
The year after I leave, you can count on a Boston Calling lineup which will leave me cursing the heavens that they didn't book a lineup like that when I still lived in the immediate Boston area. Oasis, Wilco, and Guided By Voices are absolute locks for that edition, and look for The Cure, R.E.M., and The Smiths as other top line possibilities, alongside Oasis.
Right now, though, I'm just trying to be grateful for my insanely busy live music calendar from late May - late June, followed by another huge run of shows beginning after July 4th (while trying to ignore the facts that The Cure opted for a distant suburban venue and that this year's Newport Folk lineup is so good that magical arts of some sort had to be involved in its booking.)
If you missed the news, Josh Freese is playing drums with the Foo Fighters on the forthcoming tour. He's generally the best drummer-for-hire on the open market. I've seen him live with DEVO and The Replacements, and he definitely elevates any band's live performance.

I watched the 1 hour "special" they did yesterday to announce his joining the band and then play a number of songs and he fits in perfectly with the band. The songs they played sounded great - very raw, and the new songs live remind me of early Foos. Looking forward to their set on Friday. Dave Grohl is a great frontman/entertainer, so whatever you think of their music, you can't help but enjoy yourself, they put on an energized show.
lmao niall horan announced a show at xfinity in 2024. i will say as much as im not crazy about this lineup they did a good job at getting huge 3s and 4s. considering noah kahan already sold out xfinity in the fall and bleachers and gizz have also sold out some large venues

I'd expect the temps in Allston to be a few degrees higher than listed, since a lot of the weather reporting for Boston is impacted by sea breezes that don't work their way inland. Still, there's nothing too extreme, which would be the first time that's happened at Boston Calling in 10 years.

They've always done a good job of figuring out who's on the rise, and booking them before they became really big. Back before they booked anyone who was a present arena or ballpark headliner, they managed to book Lorde, Childish Gambino, and 21 Pilots at the same edition before any of them were arena headliners.

in retrospect sept 2014 was really amazing, Neutral Milk Hotel, Lorde, Gambino, Future Islands, Sky Ferreira, Nas x Roots, Replacements etc. I only went friday but i really wish i did the weekend
