Going to try and swing this for the first time next year. When do tickets go on sale again? Seems like VIP is the way to go here.
It feels like forever ago but they announced Pavement at the 2019 festival. I’m not sure when tickets went on sale for that but it was pretty soon after.
Curious as to the VIP situation as well. I know the front of stage pits are gone but hoping the rest is worth it?
I’m 80% in. I’ve gone as far as to reserve hotels in both BCN and Madrid.
It'll probably turn back to normal. Pavement was the only one being announced beforehand. The rest of the line-up (the first drop) followed in January. 2021 was an odd one. They canceled the 2020 line-up and only few weeks after, they announced the 2021 line-up. Thought it was in March or something when they announced that? And then that also didn't happen so. December / January.. usually.

Shouldn't we just use this thread for 2023?. We usually update most festivals with a new thread each year. I don't really see the point in posting about 2023 in a thread that was created in 2017.

So less than 50-50 chance I make it back next year, but I went ahead and booked some hotels in Barcelona just in case. With that weekend falling after Memorial day I could do a 9 day trip with only having to use 4 or 5 vacation days. I did notice that the hotel I stayed at during the festival was unavailable during the fest dates , so I booked it for before the festival and I grabbed a place near Casa Mila during the festival.

Samsies. We ended up reserving in Eixample. It’s perfect for us in the fact that it’s a 10 minute walk to Plaça de Catalunya if they do the shuttles again.
fwiw someone on the reddit thread said Mad Cool was offered the Ciudad de Rock of Arganda del Rey site in Madrid for free this year and they turned it down. Feels like there's a decent chance Madrid will be absolute clusterfuck.

Yeah, I thought it was the same site as Mad Cool's but apparently it isn't (which already is way out of the city, close to the airport and only accessable via one (!) metroline). No idea how they're gonna solve the logistics and there's no way they'd make me use some shuttle bus. If I can convince my friends to do this again I'm 100% in and 100% staying close to Barceloneta, Razz or Poblenou. I now know my way around the city which makes things way easier. Also not trusting airbnb anymore in that particular city and if we do, we're gonna simply book a hotel next time.

whats the best site for hotels that far out
I used Hotels.com. Seems to be more reliable than Booking. com. Several people reported having their reservations made on Booking.com cancelled this year.

We used booking.com when we last minute needed a hotel and worked fine both times. Might check out both and see what's most reliable.

I think there is some value in staying near Placa Cataluyna for the shuttle as well

I’ve used Booking for so long they give me perks on rooms. Like that BCN hotel was listed at $1,650/week and I got it for just under $1k. I’ve heard stories about hotels canceling reservations through them but I usually pay a week before departure and never had any problems.
I’ve booked my Madrid place through there, too. It’s pretty swanky but I’m an old fuck who will be celebrating his belated 50th. I absolutely need champagne upon check in and bath robes and slippers in my room.
