I'll be looking near places in the area of Razzmatazz, I think thats the sweet spot: city v festival.
Edit: re: Madrid, no way that Id be willing to that lmao.
Oh, I dig. I assume I’m the only one doing Madrid, honestly. I just love it as a city.
They’ll have shuttles from the city proper and Arganda del Rey metro stop, which is what I was thinking. Now we have to figure out if there’s “Nite Owl” service connecting the rest of the city after the festival.
E: is there a Tram near Razzmatazz? I’d rank places like this for after the festival. If there’s a Tram, you’re set for the week.

I wouldn’t have any faith in those shuttles after how much of a mess the Barcelona ones were. Difference in Madrid is people could legitimately get stuck for several hours waiting in a line whereas in Barcelona there’s the Metro after 5 am and most places you stay in the city are an at least doable walk if it came to that.

There’s where the options come in. If it’s horrible you just take one to the Metro vs one to the city. It definitely comes down to how many buses are being provided.
I posted a link somewhere in the thread where Madrid is building a third lane from Arganda del Rey to Ciudad del Rock. My guess is the city is going to help as much as possible. They have this huge piece of land specifically designed to house outdoor festivals that goes untouched. They want to use this and transportation is the biggest reason they don’t.
Yeah the shuttle thing plus Madrid being that hot in June is a no go for me.
And the same line-up.
Honestly same lineup would be a plus for me. Basically guarantees very limited scheduling conflicts for you, you’ll get to see everyone you want except for when it’s a 3+ artist conflict. Well let you really deep dive into the lineup without much worrying about discovering someone new and not being able to see them.

Oh, I agree. Mrs. GL and I were talking about that a bit ago and we settled on we each get to pick a city and plan the schedule at the festival. I’m sure that some will overlap but she and I are on pretty much different tastes when it comes to music.
For most people who aren’t nerds though, this might really make people pick and choose and Barcelona is the easier of the two.

Yes, this!! I recall one night I just started walking back to my hotel because shuttle wasnt there and the metro wasnt on yet. I think it was the sunday? Then, the metro's would start later or something idk. Either way, I can't imagine what I would've done of my hotel was across the city.. Now I think I roughly walked 5 km / 1h back home so. But that venue in Madrid.. Idk man, it got red signs all over it.
A) I don’t see it coming close to a sell out for that reason. If they flash a “sold out” sign a few days after the line-up, I’ll worry then. B) I’m not one to be partying all night. I’m sure BCN will knock that right out of me.
There’s also the off chance they change the hours to reflect the metro being open. I doubt that happens but it could be a possibility.

Metro. The metro is THE way to go to get around in the city aswell as going to and getting back from the festival. Search for a place that is close to the L4 and you should be golden. We were staying near Barceloneta, which is 1) close to the beach 2) close to the Ramblas. The first hotel we booked (tl;dr, we got our first b&b scammed over and had to find a new place) was near Razzmatazz which is located near Bogatell iirc. Trams were also riding (see T4), but as you can see on the map, the T4 only rode until Villa Olympica which was like a 15 min walk so we prefered ofc the metro.
Also venue wise, I think there's gotta be a sweet spot somewhere. Don't know how they're going to do the La Ciutat but I'd also keep that in mind for venues like Sala Apolo, Razzmatazz, Laut, Red58 etc.

You get used to being up from dusk till dawn. Once you break through that 3/4 am barrier, you can easily make it till 6/7 am.
I think seeing the rising sun at Cupra was very special and totally worth the exhaustion (also, there's still awesome shit playing late). Sadly, I never got to see it from Bits.. I think that'll look even better.
I think we can easily write down Arooj Aftab to play in the Auditori. Osees, Ty Segall, Gilla Band, A Place To Bury Strangers.. all very much likely to play this aswell. Osees would be a very nice get imo.
We’re planning to fly in for the kick off on Wednesday but skipping the Ciutat shows in BCN. Booked in Eixample close to the Sagrada Familía and Plaça de Catalunya. Like a 6 minute walk one way to the shuttles and a few blocks from the metro the other.
Covering my bases with that booking.
I’ve kept a spreadsheet of the venues PS Tours book in Madrid, as we’ll be doing those. I unintentionally booked a hotel that’s a 15 minute walk from 3 of them. AND THEY GIVE ME A ROBE AND SLIPPERS. Dunno how useful that is in the middle of June but I’ll take it.

The Wednesday weekend 1 opening event at Poble Espanyol w/ Rina Sawayama, Teto Preto, Wet Leg, and The Linda Lindas was a real highlight for me. Something about a pre-day at festivals just feels special, there’s just so much anticipation in the air, but it’s also chill because no one’s stressed about fighting to get close for their all time favorite artist. Thursday at Bonnaroo the year I went felt like this too.
The year that I went, Poble Espanyol was being renovated and they moved the pre-party to the Arc de Triomf. I bought a sixer off a guy right out the Metro and drank and watched one of my favorite albums ever performed. It was truly a beautiful night and one I’ll never easily forget.
I gotta say, I hope they use Poble Espanyol again next year. The venue was simply spectacular with all the old buildings around it. I do hope they work on their queues tho...

Probably a controversial opinion, but I’d love to have him. I think he was somewhat scapegoated for Live Nation’s negligence at Astroworld. From what I’ve seen he’s an insanely high energy performer. Plus, I doubt any insurer would let him step on the stage if the festival didn’t implement stronger loss control practices than they have now, which would be a net plus for safety at a fest where things felt dangerous at times this year. Plus he’s probably bookable at a discount due to his damaged reputation.
