Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
28 votes for people who want bonnaroo to continue to fail so they can enjoy much wimpier late night shows than what I want to be at. Zero votes for house, zero votes for techno yet 15 for dubstep and 13 for trap. Most of the trap voters probably don't even know what trap is or whether or not friends should let friends run the trap. Kiss my ass, don't go to a search engine.
Considering that "trap" is far more of a rap style from other parts of the so-called Dirty South than here as opposed to a DJ style which we almost never get at multi-genre festivals except when said DJ is spinning for a rapper, that's a nonsense vote. And racist.
it's not that good as a rap genre either
I’ll give you Migos, but you’re spitting on most of Atlanta, Charlotte, Memphis, Baton Rouge, Tallahassee and Miami scenes - e.g. southern rap. 2-Chainz, Juicy J, Project Pat, Waka Flocka, Denzel Curry., Gucci Mane, Dolph, Young Thug, Lil Wayne,
There’s even some yankee trap in some songs by Flatbush Zombies, Danny Brown and A$AP Mob.
I’d argue there’s more good well know trap rappers than shitty ones.

I don’t know what trap is, so I will probably be voting for it fairly early. I also don’t know what dubstep is, so I’m voting for it currently.
Going bluegrass here aswell. It's corny at best, but never gets emotional nor does it hit that sweet spot that folk or even country for that matter could do. Jam makes you feel like you're going on a journey while bluegrass doesn't hit either mark.
this sounds really ignorant.
edit: billy strings. so fucking corny. no emotion, no jam.
Um. Yes? That's also because I don't know very much about the genre?
This thread needs more reggaeton hate. Not that I hate it, I just can't think of a genre with so little variation. I can understand why some people don't like hyperpop, but at least it's interesting. I'm probably just ignorant to a lot of reggaeton music but to me it's just the same drum pattern on every single song.
Check out literally any Bad Bunny album and try and explain me how repetitive reggaeton is.

It looks like you made some bold statements which he called you on. If you didn’t know you might have left that one alone maybe?
And.. I agree they're ignorant and coming from the small knowledge I know of the genre. It's not like 10 pages of people have been filled with people knowing what they're talking about lol.

Trap is a southern hip hop style which is sort of kin to crunk and also Gangsta. I’d have to check my history but I think T.I. was credited with the term. Its themes are typically about drugs, sex, violence and sometimes even social philosophy. See the list of names above I posted to Jaz for some examples of trap style rappers. Gucci is probably the biggest, and certainly 2-Chainz and Project Pat are some of my personal favorites. If you’re a fan of RTJ, El-P works with a lot of trap beats. You could say the RTJ 1 album is heavy on trap particularly their theme song Run the Jewels
Dubstep is convoluted because of acts like Borgore that launched the bro’ier versions that have become popular with drunk frat guys. As its own appeal, it’s a harder form of EDM consisting of a lot of hip hop, plenty of bass,, artificial metallic grinding sounds and frequent drops. Think Excision and Lost Lands or any of the Disciple or Black Label records acts (Barely Alive, Trampa, Virtual Riot). It’s noticeably harder than many other forms of EDM and would be on the Death Metal/Thrash side of the EDM spectrum if compared to rock and roll.
Reggaeton is simply put party music. It needs rythm and therefor repetitiveness. Do you know how repetitive salsa is? Or bachata? It's music to dance to. Idk, weird take.

I also honestly feel like there IS some cross over between metal-fans and people who like brostep. There's some stuff of Excision and Virtual Riot that has some influences, hell you have Modestep and Pendulum playing it even live (back in the day) with guitars and drums.
Tells me there will be some multiple death-to-genre days.
Had >I< had a hand in preparing this list, I would have included more vote that shit off immediately options such as Rockabilly, Opera, Western, Lo Fi Chill Beats to Relax and Study To, Easy Listening and Muzak. Similarly I would have added a couple that might either last a while (or should if people had any taste) like Industrial, O.G. Progressive/Art Rock, Avant-Garde and maybe have a couple that could go either way like Drum & Bass, Ska and World Music.
on the other hand I’m glad Teddy didn’t include ska because I would have become insufferable with how much effort I would put into shitting on it.

I can’t remember the exact line right now but Andre3000 said trap in a song way before T.I. I think it was Goode Mob that was talking about it.

The best genre is somewhere at the center of the Venn diagram of soul, funk and disco. Hoping all three of those live long and healthy lives in this Survivor and sending bad vibes to whoever voted for funk in the first round

i believe that is called house music, in which case you are correct
