Dead Kennedys made a song called Nazi Punks Fuck Off because there are apparently such a thing as nazi punks.
Esteban is about to write you a book about nazi punks.
"Me and two of my buddies were on our way to see Black Flag back when Dez Cadena was still on lead vocals pre-rollins at the the old Handlebar uptown before it burned down and they movied to Marigny. one ofmy friends had a mohawk and we ran into some straightup nazi punks and clocked in them in the head and i was drinking and smoking cigarettes, we wrapped up the night with a flounder almondine with a perfect meuiniere sauce and since they were in season softshell crab, was fucking awesome night. thats real punk not nazi punk"
I think beefy needs to delete this survivor. Then they need to create new survivors where we vote for the best sub genre of a genre, and THEN after all those are done we pit the winners against each other. It's the only fair way to do this.
finally a good idea. so 30 genres, with 30 subgenres each, that's just 900 days of Subgenre Survivor teddy needs to run then we can loop back around to Music Genre Survivor.

Sniff. Last time I saw Dez it was with his rock band DC3 so probably 85 or 86 before he went to Misfits. He went to my friend’s house the next day to score some hash. Haha.

Tells me there will be some multiple death-to-genre days.
Had >I< had a hand in preparing this list, I would have included more vote that shit off immediately options such as Rockabilly, Opera, Western, Lo Fi Chill Beats to Relax and Study To, Easy Listening and Muzak. Similarly I would have added a couple that might either last a while (or should if people had any taste) like Industrial, O.G. Progressive/Art Rock, Avant-Garde and maybe have a couple that could go either way like Drum & Bass, Ska and World Music.

on the other hand I’m glad Teddy didn’t include ska because I would have become insufferable with how much effort I would put into shitting on it.
28 votes for people who want bonnaroo to continue to fail so they can enjoy much wimpier late night shows than what I want to be at. Zero votes for house, zero votes for techno yet 15 for dubstep and 13 for trap. Most of the trap voters probably don't even know what trap is or whether or not friends should let friends run the trap. Kiss my ass, don't go to a search engine.
Considering that "trap" is far more of a rap style from other parts of the so-called Dirty South than here as opposed to a DJ style which we almost never get at multi-genre festivals except when said DJ is spinning for a rapper, that's a nonsense vote. And racist.

I haven't heard or seen that much ska that I liked. Maybe The Specials would be okay. Or if Madness is considered ska?

retort: "sell out" by reel big fish is a wonderful song.
something kind of beautiful about a weird little band from a weird little genre getting a major label deal, seeing it exactly for what it is, writing a song about it, and opening their major label album with it.
i've posted and heaped praise on to this song before. it's technically hardcore/metalcore but without a doubt is also buttrock, and it's a fucking awesome song.
that fucking riff is so fucking great. video is also rad, if the images in this video were somehow a religion i would attend weekly services and tithe.
holy shit this rips
going to try and find a reason to post this video in every day of this survivor.
