After a strong start, I feel like my excitement has been tempered quite a bit as of late. In terms of acts that I would pay to see on tour, and haven’t seen at Newport before, I feel like Orville Peck might be the only on that list. Sad that Newport wasn’t able to grab boygenius after having 6-ish sets from the three of them over the last 5 years. Even the to be announced acts of Son Volt, Nickel Creek, and John Oates don’t move the needle much for me.
That said, I’m excited to dive more into some of the smaller announced acts. I’ve enjoyed getting back into Aimee’s Save Me. And I still expect Newport to deliver by the end of the announcement cycle.

I'm pretty excited so far. I'd pay (and have a bunch of times) to see Orville Peck, Maggie Rogers, Bartees Strange, and Goose out on their own tours. And i've been curious about Billy Strings, Caamp, and The Beths. If I can't add anyone else to that list in the next month or so, then yeah I'll be a little worried. But it feels like a great start to me (though i agree that boygenius being out is a big bummer.)
