Friday: Lana Del Rey Saturday: Jason Isbell hosted Crosby tribute Sunday: My Morning Jacket
Other than the days, I think I nailed this.
kinda feel like Childers is more likely for a Friday headliner at this point, but yeah i could see Childers/Isbell Crosby thing/LDR feat guests as the three headlining slots
So when do we expect to start to see movement on the waiting list?
Last year, my lucky day was May 19th. Though I expect a more robust list post-Joni, so it's hard to gage. I know it's been said a lot already, but it's absolutely ridiculous that Dice doesn't display one's waitlist position.

Speaking of being in the minority, I didn't realize how popular LDR was. Granted I'm mostly familiar with NFR!, I almost thought she could close the Quad with a stripped down set like St. Vincent did a few years back. But based on seeing the response to the announcement and the chance of Baez, I'd imagine she's headlining.

LDR is huge. She could conceivably headline Coachella.

She playing sub head to RHCP at Lolla Sub to Foos at Outside Lands as well.

She playing sub head to RHCP at Lolla
Lolla's top two artists on each day play at the same time, so she's essentially co-headlining. But she was #2 behind Frank Ocean on Coachella's 2020 poster, and she's reliably tossed about as a "could she be headlining" every year. Her being #2 behind a stadium act at a different festival is splitting hairs, but I don't think it can be seriously questioned that she's one of the biggest headline names this fest has ever had.
"You look like you're listening to every note." - Lady to me during LCD's "final" show 2023: Mar 29 - Guster Apr 6 - Postmodern Jukebox Apr 26 - Father John Misty May 14 - Taylor Swift (Philly) May 17 - Robert Plant and Alison Krauss July 12 - moe. July 16 - CAKE (Portland, ME) July 28-30 - Newport Folk (#12!) Dec 8-9 - Goosemas!

Her latest album is really, really good. Each single that was released ended up getting into regular rotation for me. They all evoke such great feelings and imagery.
Recommend: - Did you know that there's a tunnel under ocean blvd. Great lyric: "Fuck me to death. Love me until I love myself."
- The Grants - about death and how your memories are all you really have. Great lyric: "My sister's first-born child
I'm gonna take that too with me
My grandmother's last smile
I'm gonna take that too with me"
- A&W stands for American Whore but it also evokes for me memories of Lancaster, CA which had an A&W rootbeer and a lot of down and out folks. Makes me think of my sister and her friends growing up in a town trying to take gymnastics and dance but ending up getting lost in their teen years to drugs and boys.
Have become a 48 year old LDR Fanboy and am excited she will be coming.

It was great run, Newport. It had to end sometime. Jay Sweet has apparently decided to cozy up to the moody boring next gen kids. I get it. Dont blame him. But this lineup is just Boring. We love Newport and coming up in July. Castle Hill gets ready

It’s not like Newport hasn’t been booking Julien, Lucy, Phoebe, Angel, Skullcrusher, Sharon, Black Belt Eagle Scout, Big Thief, Haley, Beabadoobee, Clairo, etc. for the last 6+ years. They were just able to land the queen of moody melodramatic music this year.

I wouldn’t put Big Thief/SVE (who i think are great) and Lana Del ray (who i consider a crushing bore) in the same category. But thats just me Its the first time i can recall in JS era that newport Jazz is more exciting than Folk. But the music is almost secondary to why we keep going at this point. It’s more of a reunion with great friends.

she's fine, but it's more that im appreciative of them finally booking someone who's relevant. much better than to rotate through the same boring usual cast of suspects. if i never hear Deer Tick or Dawes or Lucius or Brandi or whoever at the fort for the next twenty years, i'd be super happy.
