She was gonna play with Deer Tick for their final Blues Cafe shows. We had Robert Ellis down for my 50th Birthday in 2020. He spilled the beans. Dave Grohl too. It was gonna be pretty grand. Thanks Covid.
Whaaaaaaaaat?
I always thought that Tick and Stevie was the way it’s happen at this fest but had no idea it was actually planned.

No idea if this is true but I do know she was supposed to play last year but LiveNation pulled that card and wouldn’t let her due to headlining Sound on Sound

Also I know it’s not gonna happen but there’s an electronic artist they’ve been trying to book for a while (yes that’s right) who’s playing NYC 7/29. I don’t think they’re doing full band gigs this year but I suppose it’s possible.
Upcoming Shows: August 7: Green Day/Smashing Pumpkins/Rancid/The Linda Lindas August 30: Waxahatchee/Snail Mail/Tim Heidecker September 17: Pearl Jam/Glen Hansard September 24: Idles/English Teacher

Bonobo? That’d be wild!
i honestly dont think its happening but i know they were trying to work him in as far back as like 2017/2018.

I noticed Jay listening to Bibio before his Spotify went private right as the lineup started to get announced. Was really hoping that was an indication of Bibio being on the lineup, or at least more folktronica this year.
I also think that something more out there like Bonobo would make for a good post-headliner announcement. One can only hope.
Give me Bonobo, Sleater Kinney, and Blake Mills and Friends Performing Daisy Jones & the Six as the last three.

Looking at who NFF follows on Instagram has been a pretty good indicator of who they will announce. With that being said they just followed Jack Antonoff, Father John Misty, and Joan Baez.
This probably confirms the Lana + Baez set and could possibly hint at an FJM and/or Bleachers set to be announced.

Is that Blues Cafe rule new, or has it always technically existed and just been ignored?
It looks like it’s in the city City Council meeting agenda coming up.
I could understand them being concerned with the overall capacity of the venue, sure, but why would they care how many people are standing on stage? haha, seems a bit weird. Not to mention the other factors like how much of the stage is taken up by instruments and gear is vastly different band to band. Will be interesting to see if anything comes of it, i guess

Bleachers is at Boston Calling. If there is a clause related to that needing to be in the past, that could explain the delayed announcement, though Noah Kahan is also playing Boston Calling so maybe it doesn't apply to everyone>
Also, would that make Bleachers a 3 year in a row booking? Not sure that I like that. Entering Nathanial/Brandi territory but his performances have been so loose.

The playback was on YouTube but looks like it was removed due to copyright complaint.
Anything else said of note?
Not really - he threw out the same stories he always does. Was mostly just listening to favorite music and discussing it.
There was a question from a viewer that said something along the lines of “I like that Newport found a spot for Sylvan Esso this year, how about Lenker?”
Was odd that the viewer said “this year”. Maybe insider info, I dunno. Jay did answer it but did not really seemed fazed by the “this year” part.
Does anyone know if changing the amount of tickets in your waiting list order move you toward the back of the line?
not sure - but i did reach out a while back to NFF support email and got an answer pretty quickly regarding tickets. (asked them if they bundle together multiple single ticket returns to give to those on the waitlist waiting for multiple tickets or if a multi ticket order on the waitlist has to wait for a full multi ticket return and the answer was the first one... fwiw. i am still on the waitlist ).

Btw - for those that did not watch last night. Jay did say “what you see, is what you get, for now”. In regards to remaining announcements.
Someone asked asked if 3 more announcements and if there would be any unannounced.
This sounds like a "we're going to make more announcements but there's going to be downtime first", right? Why not just say they'll be unannounced if that were the case? Could be radius-clause related, though it seems like that doesn't matter given some of the already announced bands. Maybe it's an artist(s) that haven't been around for a while or are doing reunion stuff that isn't announced more broadly yet..? Or just waiting because it builds suspense/excitement, which would mean they'd have to be pretty notable.

guessing that Jack Antonoff and FJM are involved somehow in either the Saturday/Sunday closing sets, and that's it. if they were playing a proper show at the fest there'd be zero reason to not announce them.
