Wonder when we'll hear about after shows with the 3 maybe to be announced acts.
1 month before fest. Last year.
Thanks, I was thinking it was always like a week or two after announcements finished up. Gives me some more time to sit here and hope the wait list to comes through.
I really expected (and was excited for) a full Low Cut Connie set this year, particularly after having Adam Weiner pop up a few places last year, but I can't imagine that would be one of the last few announcements.

Has anyone checked out the LDR headlining set from the MITA Festival in Brazil? Unreal. I can’t believe she’s playing Newport after commanding audiences of that size. Do we think she’ll bring the full band and the backup dancers to Newport? I also can’t imagine that the singing along at Newport will be louder than her own vocals.

I don't think her Newport set will look anything like that set. She played 4 songs from the new album. I expect her Newport set to include about half the songs from the new album (including the songs featuring Batiste, FJM, and Jack)/half greatest hits, and then 2 or 3 cover songs at the end with Joan Baez.
Upcoming Shows: August 7: Green Day/Smashing Pumpkins/Rancid/The Linda Lindas August 30: Waxahatchee/Snail Mail/Tim Heidecker September 17: Pearl Jam/Glen Hansard September 24: Idles/English Teacher

That works for me. As long as the audience doesn’t leave to beat the traffic and embarrass the festival as she serenades a half empty fort. The Facebook group doesn’t even think she’s big enough to headline… Or are upset that a possible headliner hasn’t already played the Fort a half dozen times.

That facebook group is an abomination. Those are the people that set up blankets and lawn chairs behind the GA standing area. When they leave it will be a blessing as it will create more standing room.

Been thinking about Joan Baez. That other set on Sunday: Dawn Landes and friends sing from the liberated women’s songbook… It would be strange if Joan Baez was there for her not to join them. But if she does, that takes away the surprise of her joining Lana Del Rey. Which, I guess it’s fine. Maybe it opens up room for another surprise act to join.

Replying to my own comment like a true baller. Found this article on Dawn Landes’ performance: indyweek.com/music/dawn-landes-liberated-womens-songbook/ Looks like Josh Kaufman is helping her arrange for a recording. Would make sense for him to accompany the performance. Starting to look forward to this one. Imagine the “And Friends” will be more of a Newport cast than the first performance described in the article.
Vernon has been in half a dozen recording projects in the last 13 years (Bon Iver, Volcano Choir, Big Red Machine, Shouting Matches, and Gayngs) and NFF hasn’t landed a single one. So I don’t think this is the one.

it is really funny how NFF hasn't managed to get a single set from arguably the most popular, relevant and influental folk-adjacent musician of the 21st century
