I've been thinking about The Hold Steady show... they needed to be on the Fort I think. It's too big, but are we really going to get a Hold Steady show to a mostly seated audience? They needed the standing pit...
"You look like you're listening to every note." - Lady to me during LCD's "final" show 2023: Mar 29 - Guster Apr 6 - Postmodern Jukebox Apr 26 - Father John Misty May 14 - Taylor Swift (Philly) May 17 - Robert Plant and Alison Krauss July 12 - moe. July 16 - CAKE (Portland, ME) July 28-30 - Newport Folk (#12!) Dec 8-9 - Goosemas!
Batiste and Billy HAVE to be some sort of special set right? But they aren't billed that way...
Billy is pretty huge right now, but yeah I feel like he'll have some guests in tow.
I mean I really liked the Batiste A Change is Gonna Come set, but he also had the mighty Dap-Kings as his backing band, and it was a mostly covers set. So I'm very curious what this will be
Jonathan Richman was top of my list for Sunday, so that sucks. Luckily, I have tickets to see him at Somerville Theatre in the fall, but would have been great to see him at my favorite fest.
Upcoming Shows: August 7: Green Day/Smashing Pumpkins/Rancid/The Linda Lindas August 30: Waxahatchee/Snail Mail/Tim Heidecker September 17: Pearl Jam/Glen Hansard September 24: Idles/English Teacher
Sorry for repeating myself but now that there is some more activity here I figure I'd ask again - what's been the deal over the last couple years with getting tickets at the last minute? I haven't been since before the pandemic and you were almost guaranteed to be able to find one or two on the way into the fest, but with the direct exchange that doesn't seem as likely. Is there any way for last minute exchange or are people just throwing their extras into the pot with the 8 hour claim time limits and they just go there to die...?

I don’t think there is a person out there that legitimately knows how that dumpster fire that is Dice works….
also it would be exceedingly silly if Billy Strings did yet another Doc Watson set two years after he last did one
Folk On was not a real fest.
you can keep saying that, but it doesn't change the fact that two years ago, Billy Strings stood on a stage at Fort Adams and played an entire ass set of Doc Watson songs in tribute

Friday: The Beths > TBA > Caamp/The Heavy Heavy > some Noah > Jacket
Saturday: Danielle Ponder > Bartees Strange > The Hold Steady > Goose > Isbell > Batiste
Sunday: Brunch > Black Opry Revue > Remi Wolf > Lana > Billy
There's a lot of repeat acts, but Hold Steady, Remi Wolf, LDR, and The Beths are pretty unique bookings for NFF... and I happened to be a big fan of MMJ, Isbell, Childers, Goose and Billy... so that's a good weekend.

It was a half cap fest and was on the quad stage.
Does Doc not deserve a legit tribute to close out the fest…?
Superrr annoyed about having to run from Maggie early just to have what will surely be a terrible spot at Noah. Swap him with Caamp and that day becomes basically perfect for me.
Second-most annoyed about the Bartees/Backseat Lovers/Hold Steady/Goose clump in the middle of Saturday. I think I'm going to have to pick full sets from Bartees and Goose, catch the end of Backseat and unfortunately skip The Hold Steady.
Seeing the schedule finally laid out really emphasizes (for me) how awful the Sunday lineup is. Lana is a huge get and i'm a casual fan so that's exciting i guess, but i really don't care about a single other name on there. Hopefully Billy turns into something bigger, because him alone does nothing for me.

Worst case scenario I'll grab a kayak and watch from the bay. I appreciate their effort to curb scalpers but this seems like a situation that would leave a lot of empty seats on the table... We'll see.
