Anyone ever stay at motel 6. I’m going by myself for one night, so trying to find the most “affordable”
Last time I stayed there was two(?) year's ago; beaker stayed there that year too. They were using it to house people who lost their stuff due to the pandemic.
It was disgusting - trash all over. Families living there and thus their kids using the property as their own giant playground. Trash and junk all over the rear parking lot. Our room was apparently in the middle of a renovation as it had a temporary door with no knob/lock on the bathroom and you could see the outlines in the paint from where old furniture pieces had been that they painted around. Before it had been your topical Motel 6 - nothing special but a decent deal for a place to sleep - and we had stayed there as least 2 or 3 other times prior with no real complaints. Never again.

Found my post from after staying there in 2018... I guess I didn't care about self-preservation 5 years ago because I would 10/10 not stay there again now.
Can confirm the weird condensation leaking from the ceiling. It was on the floor right in front of the toilet too so I thought it was feces and I left a nasty note for housekeeping and after they cleaned it - it reappeared the next day... then I realized it was dripping from the vent. The room smelled really bad too - not like cigarettes but more like some kind of musty smell.
10/10 would stay there again though. It's super cheap and convenient. They could take secret video footage of me in my room and I still wouldn't mind staying there. The only thing I did in the hotel was sleep, shower, and drink flasks of gin. You get what you pay for.

Little inside scoop… I know someone who works at one of the nicer hotels in downtown newport and they just filled out forms for Tyler Childers to stay there starting 7/27. He obviously could just be there to support his wife although he could be making an appearance at the fort.

He does have the aftershow on Friday. So def not out of the ordinary to be in town the night before.

Jesus Christ you guys lol. Ok I’m not staying at the motel 6. And I didn’t even mention they’re trying to charge $300 per night lol. I’ll sleep in my car I guess. Or sulk drive my way back to Boston if i don’t get into any after shows at the door

His alter ego for Friday night after show is shadroch Boggs. But now I’ve semi convinced myself he’ll be at the happiness and friends show on Thursday
I think it can be assumed that is the Sunday Folk Set.
Beau, Phil, Ellis and Deer Tick. Pineapple Club 7/28.
One of the best shows ive seen at Newport was Rayland Baxter at the Pineapple Club in 2019. Sunset show. Most of the folks at the bar have no clue who the band is. Its great. Rayland played all the Mac Miller covers. Dont spread the word about this.

Ticketed?
Damn, would love to see Rayland play that cover album.

Does not seem ticketed lol.
No. It was free. Rayland was staying at Gurneys and they made him play a show to pay off the room(s) This will be free. And the setting is really nice….other than the tourists

I'm assuming sort of a practice run/rehearsal type set but I know nothing more than what's been posted here.
I guess I’m asking more of, is the pineapple club on the grounds of the folk fest? The start time of 7 is weird being that that fest doesn’t end at 7. And on their events page, it lists NFF. Almost implying it’s part of the fest

No. It’s a show. A fun loose show. Probably 7-8:30. Basically a band playing by the water at a fancy bar ….but the band is DeerTick with Robert Elis and Phil Cooke. They might be staying there.

It’s not part of the fest. Its the outdoor bar at what was Gurneys, the hotel on Goat Island
