It would be so much more fair to have every round's results secret, and I'm sure the results would be way different. But got to admit, it would be far less entertaining. Seeing these alliances and coalitions form is half the fun.

house and techno are kinda similar to jam in that it's hard to capture what makes them great in a single song.
agree, this is why i took to live techno sets so easily. both techno and jam live performances have that without-a-net element of you never know what's going to happen, and you can feel that excitement. both involve an artist reading a crowd and adjusting their choices to align with the mood and enhance the party. as opposed to the vast majority of live performances that have predetermined setlists.
good songs are still important to both genres. especially jambands, the reason a lot of jam is insufferable is because of bad songs like "krystal katie and her sweet sunshine nuggets". and techno can be quite repetitive because for as wild as the scene can be it's structurally a pretty conservative genre, a bad DJ can easily construct a boring set despite the pulsing rhythm.
i'm a tourist when it comes to techno having come to it in my thirties. but it's also cool to see how different artists sets build off each other on the same festival stage over the course of the festival. the movement underground stage gets wild like this, starting out with dub techno at 1pm and each artist that followed kept ramping up the BPMs, until the time LSD or DJ Stingray takes the stage at the end of the night and everything is so fast and loud and a total bloodbath. it's incredibly exciting to see an entire day and night of music develop like that.
