Mbappe won the WC as the best player on France when he was 19 so yeah. I totally am on-board with Messi GOAT but I think the idea that Mbappe never could equal him is weird. Put Mbappe on a team with Ronaldinho, Eto'o/Zlatan and the Barca D they had back then and he's probably gonna win some La Ligas.
Of course Mbappe could equal him - if he leaves PSG, which is what I originally said. Will never be his equal staying at PSG. And yes, he will probably leave...but he has a golden chances just this past summer and chose to spurn Madrid. I think it's fair to have a sliver of doubt whether he will leave.
So safe to assume Ligue 1 is the 5th best league? After Premier, Bundesliga, La Liga, and Serie A.

Wonder how far down the list MLS is?
if MLS was in europe it would be ranked around 10th

Likely non existent. But when Messi comes over here its gonna be insanity to get a ticket.
FWIW, Mbappe’s stats are better than Messi’ stats thru age 23.
In the farmers league.
Please….Club and Country. And it’s not like that Farmer’s League team doesn’t play those “big boy” club teams. Maybe if we had actual history of Mbappe (with a hat trick) and PSG being 1-0-1 against Messi and Barcelona in head-to-head to reference…

yeah he's totally going to be the best ever because of two matches. JFC man this is a dumb argument.
Maybe if PSG didn't choke in UCL just once it would lend some heft to his time there.
Still, the best player in the world needs to ply his trade in a better league.

Imo, Ligue one is better than serie A, as competitive as the bundesliga … so basically if he doesn’t play in England or for one of two teams in Spain he’s exempt from the convo ?

Not what I said. You called his league a farmers league. I simply said when his farmers team played Messi, they clearly played at the same level.
Messi was already the undisputed best player in the world at 22. Mbappe isn’t even the best French player and he’s the third best player on PSG. Of course he has good stats he plays in a farmers league on a team with infinite money.

And doesn’t Messi currently play for PSG…
yes, Messi plays for PSG at age 34-35. Correct. Obviously Messi spent his prime at one of the biggest clubs in the world in the 2nd/3rd biggest league in the world. This is not comparable to Mbappe at age 23 having played his entire career in that league.
everyone knows it's EPL, Bundesliga, and primera are 1a,b,c then serie A is 2 then Ligue1 is like 3 with the turkish league nipping at its heels and the championship a close 4
Edit: I somehow forgot that the Netherlands and Portugal exist while writing this post. They are both equal to ligue 1

Messi and Ronaldo also played for teams that were essentially create them personally as many goals as possible.
Y’all watch a lot of French football to call it a farmers league? A lot of players seem to be coming from mid level French clubs directly into huge teams

haha. Everyone knows UEFA actually ranks all the European leagues and doesn’t just throw shit at the wall like everyone in here…
Official: 1. English Premier League 2. La Liga (Spain) 3. Bundesliga (Germany) 4. Serie A (Italy) 5. Ligue 1 (France)
Edit: And the Turkish league. Fuck off with that terrible take. #12 in the rankings.
