I don't think Ethan cheated. But in the past, because he was so honest, he would have told Harper that he went there with Daphne. Now, he realizes that just the mystery of where he was adds a little spice.
I don't know, I don't want the takeaway to be to cheat on your partner to rekindle the spark.

Yeah, I think they thought their relationship was so much better than Cameron and Daphne's, but they needed a little of what they had. Not necessarily the cheating, but the mind games/dishonesty to keep things hot.

I firmly believe in fidelity in a committed relationship but it's also human nature to desire something as soon as it is taken off the table. So maybe that's the porn for Ethan. His wife doesn't like it and he's ashamed of it. Harper is *too available* for him, or something.
Any time I go vegetarian or sober lately I still eat meat and drink on occasion. Otherwise in my mind the moment that I break down and get chicken strips at Whataburger, I've relapsed. There's shame and there's a finality to it. But if I think well I'm allowed to do this sometimes then it makes the whole thing easier to maintain. Maybe in relationships that could be flirting or entertaining the idea of things. Or maybe the point is to keep your shit secret, like with Imperioli's character and his father.

How positive are we that Tanya was about to be murdered? I know the British guy with Portia said he worked for powerful people, and Tanya finding the bag with the gun was pretty telling but I’m still not 100% convinced. The mafia guy didn’t seem to be concerned about Tanya finding the gun in the previous episode and I don’t think she was verbally threatened by them at any point. She started shooting before we really got a definitive answer to what they were up to. It definitely seemed like she was in danger and the dots connected with Greg and everything but idk.

didn't she pull out a body bag, ropes and a gun in that order? that's pretty telling.
do feel like most of the theories came to light though, there was enough mystery to keep it interesting but idk a lot of it played out as it came off. even Cam getting annoyed to talk to the kid when he was flossing was confirmation of a "theory" but it also was a quick deep dive into his true personality about everything.

Is the theory that they aren't his kids? They are super blond and wasn't that how Daphne described the trainer she cheats with occasionally?

yeah and you can hear from in the bathroom he hears the one wants to see daddy and she's calling for him and he's ignoring them picking his teeth, sort of scowls and then turns on a smile and walks out. but I think it's just the one, idk the other one was small and not as featured but maybe that's sort of another nod to there whole life is shrouded in this a purposeful mystery so who knows
and the only thing I can think of that would make sense outside of Ethan and Daphne hooking up is she told Ethan the same thing she did Harper and sort of emasculates Cam to the point Ethan maybe doesn't feel as threatened. but I think the simplest explanation is they did.
also think Greg is more fucked than people are thinking. with all those people dying, the money involved, the spectacle of it all it probably gets too hard for him to get it easy breezy, but a lot might hinge on if Jack got to porchia. if she knows all the people are dead maybe there's less of a threat to speaking up?

Pretty sure Mike White confirmed the plan and that Greg was in on it on an interview or the after episode special.
Season 3 starring Portia and that forgettable nice guy somewhere in the Amazon at an ayuhuasca retreat resort with trust fund hippies turning into A24-esque psychological horror with a dark comedic twist could be a potential great season
Cam and Daphne said "next year Maldives" or something along those lines, and then in the EP wrap with Mike he said it would be fun for s3 to be an eastern spirituality retreat type situation, so I wonder if that was sort of an explicit drop at where 3 is going to be.
I sort of like the idea of cam and Daphne being the Coolidge of the next season, and she found the body at the resort so maybe they gave her passes to another lotus.

That's a good call.
Could see it being Daphne/Cam, Portia and Albi (or Portia alone), or even Greg who know has Tanya's money and gets involved in some other hijinks.
I did see someone in some comments suggest that the photo we see at the end of Imperioli's (I assume) wife on his phone when he's calling her that she could be going on a post-divorce "Girl's weekend" type vacation but that feels like a bit of a stretch.

White also said the next season's theme would be death, so it would make sense for Daphne, having just had her overly positive worldview shaken up by finding a dead body in paradise, be the carry-over for season 3.

Pretty positive. When she talked to Portia about what was going on and then mentioned the pre nup she knew exactly what they had to do. there was a theory that the pre nup had an infidelity clause and that you could see a camera in the bedroom where she got down with the Italian dude, but that seemed like nothing since a gun got busted out along with the rope and such. If it was infidelity you couldve had her on the boat and outright extorted her with the video and had Greg chime in. Or when Tanya went back to shore with the Italian guy that Greg was there and spotted them and could argue that she cheated. Greg being gone was a foolproof alibi. And as mentioned, Mike white brought it up in the post show interview. He also alluded to maybe it being followed up in the future, but who knows. Theres enough proof if Portia wanted to go down that rabbit hole it could happen. 2 of the gay guys are still alive since one clearly had remorse and even hinted at her soon to be death. But if you want a couple of easter eggs theres a shot in an earlier episode that had a mannequin with the dress Tanya had on when she died and the tarot card reader pulled the death card. Oh, and Madame Butterfly.
Another good way of keeping a connection to the previous season is that somebody just lasts 2 seasons. So Tanya was S1 and 2. then Daphne and Cam are this season and next season, and so on and so forth.

Was that maybe why Tanya said "He's really crying" when she was told Matteo would be staying behind? Like, did he bond with her/like her and maybe not want her killed? The subtitles before they said goodbye was just saying "Matteo speaking in Italian" or something. It was more specific like "urging" or "pleading" or "pushing" but I definitely thought something was off there and why did he have to stay behind.
