Tier 1 for LCD in NYC sold out immediately during presale and now you can get it during the regular onsale 7 hours after it started. Beyond fucked up.
Edit: guess they’re finally gone but the point is still valid. Lol
I always operate under the assumption that a percentage of all tiers, price levels, etc. are made available through presales and a larger percentage of each are held back for the general onsale. Not to say that both presale and regular onsale tickets can't sellout quickly, but "sold out" during a presale generally means that the allotment of tickets set aside for the presale are what's sold out.
This is true when the different tiers represent different types of tickets but I have never encountered a presale when a pricing tier for a ticket type sold out during presale, they sold a higher priced tier for that ticket type during the presale and then they sold more tickets of that type at the cheaper tier during the regular on sale.
It's so interesting that they've put such a heavy emphasis upon a genre that's really not yet been considered to be a genre, in the way that we think of metal, punk, and rap (and their variants) as genres -- progressive/psychedelic R&B. Put Steve Lacy, Bartees Strange, Toro y Moi, L'Rain, Dijon, and Foushee together in one place, and that's a strong cross-section of the now-crystalizing genre.
Not that any of this is completely new. There are some interesting precedents for progressive R&B. You all know Parliament/Funkadelic, but before they begin releasing separate albums, with Parliament flying the keyboard-driven funk jams while Funkadelic was home to acid-drenched guitar (#RIPEddieHazel), their very first album Osmium (released under the name Parliament) was "all of the above" and more. I don't want to define the album for you any further, so that it hits you with very fresh ears, but Osmium is unlike anything else in the P-Funk catalog, and that's saying something.
Before there was Steve Lacy, there was cody ChesnuTT. He's released a few albums since then, but this early 2000's album, The Headphone Masterpiece, isn't idly bragging in its title. There's a through line running from Shuggie Otis to cody chesnuTT to Steve Lacy.
And speaking of Shuggie Otis...

I just realized the L.A. and New Orleans shows are both during their city's respective Pride fests. Don't need a car in New Orleans, flights are a bit cheaper and I've never been there --but the weather will probably be better in LA, and I could also see The National at the Greek and Grace Jones at OutLoud...

Ohhhh shit speaking of that Boston LCD is during Providence Pride which I have meant to do for years because Boston Pride sucks (and also hasn't existed since 2020 because of a racism scandal).
I mayyyyy have to reconsider doing Re:set in that case, especially if all my friends (no pun intended) go to PVD that day

Yeah, this thing is never happening again after this year. Sigh...
I think they just overestimated the appeal of LCD / Steve Lacy. boygenius days have sold out at most of them
Yeah even though Steve Lacy resell price was crazy he hit LA twice in the last 13 months and 2 weekends at Coachella. Boygenius is actually currently hot and has new music that people want to hear that haven’t had the chance. Just shows how quick this popularity cycle runs.

absolutely. if i was something like the strokes instead of lcd and ice spice/pinkpantheress instead if steve it would have sold super well

Idk about that. Pinkpantheress isn’t that big yet. Ice is blowing up but she hasn’t done one venue. Asking her to sell out a festival with little overlap with James Blake is a reach.

fair enough. they cane to mind because both have similar trajectories to steve and like 8m more monthly listeners each.
Ik for the Chicago show they didn't even have the permit for the venue yet. Is that still the case? I'm not even sure if this fest is gonna happen
I mentioned this elsewhere but I got a survey a few days ago from AEG asking me how I was planning on getting to Riis Park so I don’t think they’re having permit issues anymore.
