Overall I had a great time and I thought the venue was nice. Tucked in between the stadium and the hill with the parking garage and office buildings funneled the sound pretty well and it sounded great. Especially during LCD. Jamie XX did pretty much the exact set that I saw at Coachella 2022 but I had no complaints. We were near the dancers most of the set and they were fun to watch. I was exhausted just watching them lol
That was only the 3rd time LCD had played San Diego and the first time since 2010.
After so many events in Pasadena it was so refreshing to get out of parking so easily and on to normal streets before you knew it. Getting in was a piece of cake at around 5:30 too.
I had a good time at the SD venue yesterday. It was my 10th time seeing LCD and the went in thinking that unless they put out another record, it would probably be my last time seeing them. But then I enjoyed their set so much I might be up for another 10.
I thought the sound was muddy during Idles but it was better for Jamie XX and great for LCD. I stood in different spots for all three so maybe that was the difference.
It was nice taking the trolley in. I left during All My Friends and the trolley out was surprisingly uncrowded.
Can’t believe I’m saying this, but I’m skipping LCD show today in LA because I’m very exhausted. Maybe I should stop buying tickets to things that I know won’t sell out from now on.

My group was a little underwhelmed by Jamie xx today. Part of it was probably the daylight, but the first half of his set in particular just felt off. Thankfully, LCD sounded great, probably one of my favorite times I've seen them. Started 5 mins early and still went long, so they're being loose with that 90-minute slot and we love James & Co for it. Excellent crowd too.
Festival layout in Pasadena was cute. Smaller than I had pictured after attending other fests there. Despite having to pay the $25 for parking, it was a very easy in/out. I doubt this thing returns, but you'll all have fun in the other cities.
Of the dozen times I’ve seen LCD, last night was in the top 3 (behind MSG and Roo ‘10). They sounded great and the crowd had good energy. The people we were around were singing, jumping, and dancing along to every song. So much fun! And I got to hear two songs I hadn’t seen yet - Oh Baby and New Body Rhumba.

Did he play originals or random songs in the first half?
For those taking the mbta in Boston green line service is shuttles only north of govt center (due to demolition of the garage but they're closing the whole north part of the line??) on the 17th and 18th

I wonder if they’ll do the same set in NYC last week given the BK Steel run (which got sets really similar to these), or spice it up. My kingdom for a second hit of “how do you sleep?”
Shit Robot DJ’d between acts in SD and played some good stuff that fit the vibe well.
it was funny that they had him behind the banners so hardly anyone knew he was there lol
Yeah, I was bummed about that. The only time I had seen Shit Robot was during that LCD MSG show. Thought last night sounded great, but didn’t understand why he wasn’t visible.
Credit where it’s due, I think this is the first Block Club article about a festival ever that actually talked to someone who wanted to go to that festival lol.

For real lol. The writers at Block Club must hate music festivals.
Why do the neighbors object? It ends at 10 PM. And it’s not like LCD fans will burn the neighborhood down.
It’s not really the people who live there - 750 people seems like a lot of people against the festival until you realize 80,000 people live in Belmont Cragin. I think most people don’t give a shit or know it’s even happening either way. Block Club is a news organization that is pretty anti-festival and tends to have an anti-new development bent in general.

Sounds almost like when LA Weekly went after Insomniac and raves in LA for years til it took a teenager dying for them to move to vegas and get edm events pushed out of the county.
