catching up on stuff i missed yesterday and becky g is very 2023 manny santos.
omg I had such a tv crush on her. Link to that replay pls
If you have the time today def rewind and watch Chem. They were incredible, especially the second half of their set. Some of the visuals on the backend are bleepin perfect.
okay so the burning questions are does blink return and does metro bring everyone out again. i didn't watch but if it was heroes & villains heavy then he has to right???
Watching the Blink stream definitely helped make me feel better about the likelihood they won't return weekend 2. During the Arcade Fire set last year I kept thinking, "Fuck I need to BE THERE." Last night during their set I mostly thought to myself, "Right on this is great - fun for the people in attendance." This morning I'm actually curious to see if GV will pull a different gigantic rabbit out of their hat or if it's time to actually consider that they are actively dismissing weekend 2.
Interpol & The Walkmen 11.23 I Am Morbid/Suffocation 11.26 King Diamond 11.29 Sadistic Intent/Massacre 11.30 70K Tons Of Metal 2025 Hell's Heroes 2025 Sick New World 2025 Maryland Deathfest 2025
I've gotta say, while the expected "crowd is dead" comments came in throughout the day and night, I was actually super impressed by the size of the crowds on the stream for most sets. People really looked like they came out from start to finish.

Gorillaz are just not a good live act, we can try to pretend otherwise because we like their music, but we would just be pretending
This is simply false. They were a mixed bag the first time I saw them in 2010 (which was thrown off by the volcano) but the 2017 show I saw was unreal, and by all accounts they've continued to get better.

They (he?) were (was?) very boring when I saw them (him?) in 2017

Just going through the thread after a busy day 1- a few crowd notes for weekend 2 goers: Gorillaz crowd was large but quiet as folks have noted. I was not super close, but not far - in front of right-sided ADA. I felt like they were attentive though - not spoiling it with talking over it, so I took that as a win. But noticeably a quiet crowd.
Chem Bros crowd was very into it and very decent sized initially. We left after Gorillaz ended and got only an Ok spot at first - center but behind sound board. Crowd thinned dramatically after about 30 min and we eventually got close. You can probably get close without difficulty going down the right side as folks have mentioned.
Wet Leg had a nice crowd but not overflowing by any means. Probably Blink-182 effect (also there was a line going into TV Girl in Sonora at same time). Blink-182 was overflowing obviously - major bottleneck at side of beer garden. We eventually cut in there after Wet Leg. Fun show and LOUD crowd (obviously with very little room to move).
Can anyone comment how big Ashnikko’s crowd was on the stream? She has a terrible time slot but was fun when I saw her in the past.

Really bummed she’s opposite Gorillaz/Chems, I was looking forward to that in the Yuma earlier in the day.
yeah would have loved to have seen this next weekend.

(Also kind of sad that they’re loosening the theme of the Sonora more each year? I liked that as a pure indie rock haven.)
I figured it's always been a up and comer stage. Last few years bedroom pop has been dominating that stage
yeah I think of it as a DIY/scene stage. Uncle Waffles and Nia Archives are clearly expansions on the Ela Minus booking in there last year, which was awesome. Also looked like Waffles did great in that spot; just wish it was at a time I could see her play. Curious to see how Nia pulls; it's an extremely heavy competition but she got a little soft spot in the schedule that will enable a lot of people to swing by if they want to
