So far I don’t think there is one act I would pay to see. Yes, there are a handful of acts that I am kinda looking forward to, but no one that I am truly excited about.

Right now it’s 5 for me. Epic terrible start for this thing LOL.
But this fest has been declining as a whole for a few years now. In regards to overall lineup quality.

yeah i mean i'd certainly pay to see Adrianne Lenker, Gillian Welch/David Rawlings, Killer Mike, Molly Tuttle, and Wednesday, but there's only a couple of those im actually excited about. It is what it is, the fest can't/won't book some of the bigger/more exciting acts because those acts make more money elsewhere.

I didn't follow the rolling lineup closely last year, but overall, Friday and Saturday are looking stronger to me than last year (especially Saturday).
However, on Sunday last year had Madison Cunningham, Gregory Alan Isakov, Los Lobos, Billy Strings, Lana Del Rey, Remi Wolf, Earls of Leicester, Black Opry Revue...
I'm hoping they're saving all the fun surprises for Sunday at the end, because Sierra Ferrell and Mighty Poplar are the only two I'm genuinely excited to see. Tinariwen and LA LOM I've warmed up too, but the last two are acts are passes for me.
Are the bigger acts going to be saved towards the end? 🤞

Just curious, who are you hoping gets announced? For me, Saturday is really strong so far, and Friday/Sunday have some stuff I’m pumped about and some I’m indifferent about. Gillian and Adrianne are my top 2 at the moment

I'm on the wait-list for Friday and Saturday, and 2 days, and the only notification I got was in early February for Friday. After it expired, I got back on the wait-list haven't heard back since.
If you're local, there aren't many shows like NFF. And to me, there's something so special about by the water when the sun is setting listening to that closing act.
So at least for single day tickets, I don't think it'll be a problem if you drop more than a month before.

This is a fair question, to be honest, I’m not sure what I’m looking for. Looking at the 2023 lineup I would have paid to see: slaughter beach dog, caamp, maggie, Noah Kahan:/, backseat lovers, goose, Isbell, GAI, Billy strings, and I guess Lana Del Ray. However, I’m sure there are still some solid acts that have yet to be announced.
Saturday acts I’d pay to see: Killer Mike (but I already did before he was announced and don’t expect him to perform a wildly different set than what I saw) Orville Peck
Sunday acts I’d pay to see (Maybe) Mighty Poplar
That’s a tough sell for me so far for a $2k+ event. But I do give it the Newport boost (paying for a trip to Newport has many benefits beyond the lineup, and the festival offers much more than just the sum of the bands announced).

Personally, after someone pointed out the Flaming Lips have a convenient gap in their schedule makes me want them badly. With Mighty Poplar playing, Punch Brothers, Leftover Salmon, and Billy Strings/Chris Thile as a surprise collab would all be awesome. Andrew Bird maybe?
Really any talented, energetic musicians would be great.

Agreed, the Flaming Lips would be an excellent booking. Can’t go wrong with Andrew Bird either
Do they have any music out? I think I found something by them on YouTube but it just sounds like a few people cosplaying as Shovels and Rope. I do usually enjoy acts and announcements like this though so I’m interested in listening to more.

Old crow medicine show has Molly Tuttle opening at roadrunner in Boston a week before the fest .. count them in
A week is enough time for them to go their own ways. But with that date and a prominent Dave Rawlings and Gillian Welch set already announced I do think that OCMS (or at least Willie Watson) will be in attendance.

I didn’t see any official music out yet either. Here’s the band’s bio from a show they did earlier this year:
In a harmonious union, singer-songwriters Zella Day and Jesse Woods come together to reveal their highly anticipated collaboration, “Chaparelle”. Esteemed for their exceptional vocal prowess and celebrated contributions to their distinct genres, Zella and Jesse craft a musical tapestry that harkens back to legendary duets of icons like George and Tammy or Gram and Emmylou. This partnership channels the enduring allure of Country music’s golden age, weaving a melodic narrative that resonates with themes of love and the indomitable Texan essence.
Don’t be surprised if Jupiter and Okwess play again. They’re in Westerly on Sunday.
It's so cool to see Westerly hosting more acts. I see they'll also have Aoife O'Donovan the week before (she's out though, based on her schedule). Has anyone been to United before?

The United is fun, so is the Knick. I’ve been catching more shows in Westerly than Providence in the past couple of years. Lee Fields in April and Wood Bros in May.
We won’t get to a point where it may be difficult to return tickets to the waitlist due to the lineup, will we?
If it stays like this it could very well be an issue.
How long has NFF been selling out? A buddy and I scored two tickets from a tourist for 60 bucks in 2010. I signed up for the foundation membership as an afterthought maybe 6 years ago?
I guess I wouldn’t mind seeing a downturn in ticket sales and letting things get a little more mellow again. I’m local so I’ll go regardless. Kinda crazy to think about the evolution of the fest since it’s inception.

Oh hey, we get both the band that sounds like Shovels and Rope and Shovels and Rope.
