Maybe. I don’t eat it very often. I save it for when we’re on the coast. Maybe those people are being paid as poorly idk.
Aren't you only like a couple hundred miles from the coast already? I figured any South Carolinian worth their salt (that also eats seafood) would do some low country boils from time to time. Now I'm feeling like trying to see if there are any good seafood places in Greenville - there appear to be some pretty okay places.
About 3.5- 4 hr. I just don’t go out to get seafood here. It’s always been a only the coast thing.

i don't know if i've ever had captain ds but i kind of feel bad for it survivor-wise and was secretly hoping it would fly under the radar and survive ONE round of survivor.
I do not know Captain D's. I guess I will jump on there for now, since I would rather it than anything Kenny Rodger's going out first.
FTR, I don't know a few of these and have never eaten at most of these places. Like are some of these made up? I am looking at you Fuzzy, Torchy, Jason, Nathan and Newk.
But then I saw Captain D's was back on some shit. The worst.
Well, that is one thing we can agree on.
Like I said the last time Postjack included it in a survivor, I only went once (in Jacksonville) in the middle 1990's. I took a few bites before tossing. I went to their website and looked at the menu, and it appears they actually use wild caught cod and salmon and shit which is kind of a surprise since I remember bad frozen shrimp and bad accompaniments. They don't have them here I don't think (edit they don't - Gulfport, MS is the closest). The D is Danner. Captain D (Ray Danner) ran his Shoney's (perhaps where he learned the art of presenting haute cuisine) and opened Captain D's for his wife. Google also says Shoney's was the parent company. This makes a lot of sense though it seems like Shoney's probably was slightly better. I don't know if those still exist or not, but they weren't very good either.

Torchy's is a texas-centric taco chain. i loved it but it's been a while since i've eaten there, would be interested to hear from texas inforoo'ers if they think it's good.
it's good but over hyped. their queso rocks though
actually just remembered i had some in denver about two years ago and yeah it was pretty good but not super memorable. was a nice treat to be out of town and find one though.
i think the first time i had torchy's was seeing radiohead in houston in 2012. i'd just never had a taco like that before and it blew my mind.
You should do just a taco survivor thread with all these wannabe fast casual taco chains. I can think of at least 3 more that aren't on this list. If you are just going to recycle survivors make it interesting. LOLz
never heard of it until just now. looks good though.
Double post don't care...it is my FAVORITE fast casual taco place. We go EVERYTIME we are in Texas.
My festie bestie makes us go to that Schlotzsky's place when we are in Texas.
There used to be three or four Schlotzsky’s in Knoxville, and now there are none. When we lived in Atlanta, there was one in Alpharetta that we knew of, and there was a nice greenway near it, so we’d occasionally drive out to walk the greenery and go to Schlotzsky’s. There was also one in Las Vegas that we would go to from time to time. There is not one in Macon now, but they recently opened one about forty minutes from here, and we’ve been talking about making a special trip sometime. It’s not, like, the most amazing sandwich I ever had, but I do really enjoy the olive tapenade. They also used to have cracked pepper potato chips that I particularly liked.

we had a Schlotzky's here for a bit when i was in high school. i enjoyed it until i realized it's just really heavily oiled bread that somehow also cuts up your mouth when you eat it, so when you leave your mouth is coated with olive oil and bloody scratches and you are tired and wish you'd just made a sandwich at home with regular bread.
When I went to put flowers on my parents' grave, we swung by and picked up a couple of muffulettas. Still delicious. And the area has changed. You no longer need to leave someone in the car with it running and run in to get your food hoping you don't get stabbed on the way.

You’re supposed to take the aluminum foil off before you eat it
