we had a Schlotzky's here for a bit when i was in high school. i enjoyed it until i realized it's just really heavily oiled bread that somehow also cuts up your mouth when you eat it, so when you leave your mouth is coated with olive oil and bloody scratches and you are tired and wish you'd just made a sandwich at home with regular bread.
You’re supposed to take the aluminum foil off before you eat it
I used to be a manager at Blaze Pizza when I was in high school.AMA.
Hey Vamp. I don't have anything to ask because I've been two or three times except did you get tired of eating it since you were around it all the time. It's not pizza that I'd go out of the way to get, but it's better than the fast delivery places (Pizza Hut, Pizza John's, Domino's, Caesars, etc.). What I like about it is the process is pretty fast, and you have a lot of choices. It's not like I'm going to a place in Chicago where I'd want to be there hanging and knowing it's going to take 35-40 minutes for them to bake my pie. Blaze is usually just a couple minutes
I don't think they give you a whole lot of toppings - more a sprinkling. But since the pizzas are mostly built for one (dine-in anyway), that's probably okay.

Literally never got tired of eating it. There was always new variations and techniques to cook it and I really liked the food. It actually is all fresh and mostly localism ingredients. Easily the most fun job I've ever had and I always joke that if I ever have a mid life crisis, I'd probably take a loan out to open a domino's since I really enjoyed that type of work environment.
I don't miss me and my car ALWAYS REEKING of garlic. No matter what I did I couldn't hide the smell garlic on me.
This place has your olive tapenade. In Shreveport Louisiana.
I don't know anything about Shreveport. But we got some decent places here. Many po-boy shops have them on the menu. I guess Central Grocery and probably Nor-Joe's Import Company are the most famous and then DiMartino's on Vieux's side of the river. People debate whether they should be heated or not. I prefer they get at least somewhat of a toasting to bring out the flavors of the bread (particularly if the muffuletta bread is seeded with sesame seeds which maybe they all do?) and to help marry the sandwich ingredients.
I mean, Central Grocery IS the BEST. But, until the shop opens and I can get one super fresh, instead of one made in the morning and sold at the convenience store next door, I will wait.

Wait. Are you saying Centra Grocery is closed? Say it ain’t so!

It is not closed as in the sense you can't buy the muffuletta's next door at Sidney's. The roof collapsed during Ida and they are in the process of rebuilding the whole building. So you can get one, but it's not made in front your face at Central Grocery.

Got it. I haven’t been since 2019, but I’m overdue for a trip down there, and I never leave without enjoying a Central Grocery muffuletta.

I mean, they are the best. After Krewe du Boo, we were walking down Decatur (thejeremy drunk AF) he wanted to get one and when his drunk ass realized it had been sitting in a cooler all day and not fresh he got very heartbroken. I really hope they open the shop soon. I miss them.

I've never heard of Atlanta Bread Company so I was wondering if they were some sort of up-and-coming chain that's still growing and hasn't made it here yet. Googled them, checked their wikipedia page, and that idea could not be further from reality

Atlanta Bread Company was the OG $10 sandwich place. like when subway was doing $5 footlongs ABC was shamelessly selling sandwiches for $11. the one near my work closed not too long ago but i used to meet my parents there for lunch all the time, parents fuckin love atlanta bread.
Is Quiznos still a thing? I haven't seen one in years.
looks like they've had some trouble, bankruptcy and restructuring, but as of March 2022 there are still 176 quiznos in the US, and 200+ in 30 other countries.

There was a super long Reddit post a few years ago about how Quizno's franchising model was basically a predatory MLM/pyramid-like scam. It's been deleted, but the gist of it was they'd fine their franchisees for all of these minor violations and make them buy expensive equipment from the company that basically bled individual stores dry and made it impossible to turn a profit.
