the episode of the what podcast with brad parker is out:
at 1:15:00, he gives more info on the thursday headliner and makes it sound like it’s a solo act rather than a band. really curious to see who it ends up being given the way he talks about it

should we do a little key should we do a little line

was gonna say Bo Burnham but no chance if it’s in a tent which this makes it sound like he is?

I kind of thought it sounded like it would be on the main stage due to this person reaching out and that being the available day to headline, but that there won’t always be a main stage headliner in the future.
I’m trying to think of headliner caliber artists that would reach out to Bonnaroo that would also be surprising. I feel dumb even saying this, but.. Dolly?
Bo Burnham also makes sense though. Was on the census list of artists.

Jack Johnson? Beck? Lil Wayne? The way he talked about it made it sound like a legacy act that's not quite full headliner level but still pretty dang big.

Wish they asked if they had something in store for Friday the 13th.
The 2 teases they gave us are interesting. "You could never guess the Thursday act" gives me the idea that this is indeed a solo artist but with a special connection to Bonnaroo.
The Sunday feeling like a curated Bonnaroo is also interesting. It seems though they're talking about what the fans request which makes me think we shouldn't read too much into it. Probably the day Tyler headlines and Vampire Weekend / Glass Animals and John Summit play. The no legacy act on Sunday is a little sad, but good that they are aware that is what the fans expect.
Also my read on the Sunday wasn’t that they shut down the idea of a legacy headliner, just that they acknowledged they didn’t do it for ‘24 and may not do it every time moving forward. It also sounds like that’ll be the Dolla/Summit day
The setup on the act reaching out would almost make you think it's an act with a Nashville/country background.
The insistence on not guessing makes me think it's an "artist" not really specifically known for music
im thinking on these same lines and would normally guess that means that they have an established relationship with the fest but if they did, im sure they wouldn’t be that hard to guess, which makes me wonder if it’s someone who is reaching out to do the festival for another purpose altogether. i know john mulaney just signed up to do a talk show with netflix starting next year with details under wraps. who knows if doing some special taping at a music festival could be part of that. he performed at bonnaroo in 2008 so he’s definitely familiar with the festival and would unquestionably headline

Jelly Roll seems like the kind of guy who would ask if he could headline any day... I'm going with that or country artist, Jack White as a distant third.

Jack White
Sturgill Simpson
Billy Strings
Dolly
Betting its one of those 4
all of these + jelly roll have been guessed a ton. with both brad and remeard saying that they don’t think anyone will guess it, we really have to think outside of the box. i think snoke is on the right path with it being an artist not known for music. only musical artist i could think of headlining that really would be super left-field is insane clown posse and even that feels like something we’ve put on mocks before
We’re slowly starting to be at the stage where dropping names isn’t that big of a deal, I don’t think Brad was intentionally misleading us on Discord. Im thrilled it seems we’re getting VW again finally.
There’s one that isn’t really safe to spill yet that’s kinda sorta out of left field that I’m pretty happy we’re getting.
the out of left field artist you mentioned here isn’t the thursday headliner?
