I'm also kinda shocked at the lack of latin music on the lineup, but it also does seem to be phasing out a bit compared to a couple years ago and leading up to 2023.
Embarrassingly long time lurker chiming in to see if anyone can speak to the value of VIP. My friends are leaning toward it and I wanna know if it's worth the price bump (or what your experience was like in general).
And for my two cents, I have a gut feeling Charli would be fine passing on a sunset main stage set if it meant she could have a longer nighttime set commanding Sahara.
You are going to get hella different opinions on this and it really comes down to whether or not crazy easy logistics, no lines for anything ever including bathrooms, comfy places to chill, and better food (KazuNori rolls, hell fucking yea) will add to your experience or not. You need a Safari or Guest pass to get in front of all the stages, and VIP doesn't really get you an extra view other than a great one of the main stage (and a short/non-existent Yuma line).
Looks like they are adding two new VIP areas though at Sahara and Outdoor so maybe some of that will change.
The first time I did it, I knew I could never go back but other people think its a waste of money.

No offense but the genre has run its course. It’s taken up significant real estate on the last three posters. It’s definitely in its sunset

it's not worth it unless you want better food options or some shade. The viewing areas for VIP aren't front if stage (those are artist/Safari/guest)

To be fair bathroom lines are pretty nonexistent outside of the 6-7PM dinner break/latecomer rush and Sahara in particular late night, although that might differ if you're a women's restroom user.

..........there were at most 4 reggaeton acts on the lineup this year??
Yeah it’s just seems boring. Hasn’t he been there like 4 or 5 times in the past decade? Why couldn’t they go after Kaskade and/or Deadmau5 or something. I like the Above and Beyond booking because at least they haven’t played before(or at least recently)
Zedd just feels like their usual, safe DJSnake type booking. Except at least Snake was in the Sahara and didn’t take up valuable Outdoor/Main Stage set times like Zedd will.
Look last year we had bebe fucking rexha on the main stage in this same slot, I hate Zedd but still an upgrade
One thing Coachella loves to do is to book someone horrible as 3rd on their day.
also it's deeply unfortunate we've reclaimed trance and eurodance in the last 1-2 years and yet no one wants to truly reclaim the deeply embarrassing shit. I am in desperate need of someone in the Boiler Room to play Aqua deep cuts.
El Malilla is helping lead the way for reggaetón Mexa. Bellakath kickstarted the movement but El Malilla might be the bigger name now and I'm happy to see him here.
While not reggaetón but we still got Ivan Cornejo, Junior H, CA7RIEL & Paco Amoroso, Los Mirlos and Judeline. Still feels a bit short for this year though. No J-pop either.
EDIT: Forgot Anitta but kinda wish they'd go with someone new there.

yeah listening to El Malilla inspired that comment. I know the current reggaeton class isn't super inspiring and apparently we have 8 million options for subs but I would've liked to see a Rauw Alejandro or Tainy type I suppose.

I'm gonna recommend TOPS to anyone going who hasn't heard of them. Saw them open for Soccer Mommy and largely went for them as well. Very charming band in the vein of Tennis.

I think this lineup is objectively great. And I will live a mere 2-hour drive away now. But it’s lacking that oomph for me that every lineup of the last few years has offered for me. And the Attack on Titan orchestra concert in LA conflicts with weekend one…

the truly embarrassing shit deserves to stay in the past.. no one is reclaiming brostep (nor should they ever)

Decisions
Hmm Attack on Titan Orchestra or one of Dudamel's last shows in SoCal amongst everything else at Coachella. I don't think you'll regret missing that AoT show, but I think you will end up watching Coachella from home regretting not going instead. Plus, I feel like if you live in LA/SD there's no reason you should miss Coachella, unless it's really that bad (it never is).

well sorry Coachella but unfortunately the random ass festival in Phoenix booked confidence man instead so I might do that instead. Nice while it lasted though!
hey Bing! nice to see you liking my comments from a week ago. Unfortunately Coachella booked almost all of my favorite rare 90s acts this weekend so my mind has changed a lot. anyway hope you have a great time scrolling through the rest of this thread!
Seriously if I hear Jurassic Park on the Outdoor my life is complete, strangle me then and there
On further review I forgot Darkside as a bucket list, and have added Gus Dud & the Philly Harm assuming I get any John Williams, so that's 4 bucket lists. I'm as happy as Kid Rock at a UFC event with the president

Crazy to think Fred Again was rumored to be the first headliner from the start by all the “reports” only for him to be nowhere on the lineup. Coachella really kept those leaks to a minimum for the most part

XG is the J-pop you are looking for
XG is such a random get to me yet it makes so much sense and the music is great. Although they're less J-Pop than they are an amalgamation of K-Pop stylings/mv production and western pop music production, while being Japanese. Anyways, I hope their set visuals match their MV quality, because their videos are insane, Shooting Star is easily one of the best MVs I've ever seen hands down.
