My last early morning thought is that if Coachella has been a preview of the Portola top lines, it feels like Portola is now an audition for Coachella for the bottom lines. Sammy Virji, Chase & Status, Sara Landry, Interplanetary Criminal, AG Cook, Horsegiirl, Tinlicker, Bohmer, and Glass Beams were like the most hyped performances post festival that way overdrew their stages, the only one missing from that group that I can remember is Joy Orbison.
Also re: Portola, Snow Strippers was the worst fucking live act I've maybe seen ever but I also feel like their fans wouldn't care.
I'm going w1 this year because I want to spend Easter with my kids, but I definitely prefer W2 simply for the fact that watching the livestream of shows I don't plan on seeing gives me a wider sense of what Coachella is like that year but also that + the reviews from W1 can put shows on your radar that you weren't planning on seeing. Jon Batiste I had zero interest in but after the livestream, we had to go and it was one of my favorite Coachella sets ever.
The grass has been way better fyi. W2 2023 was ridiculous, without exaggeration Friday and Saturday felt like W1 grass, I don't know how they did it. Last year wasn't as good as that but way better than the W2 grass pre-Covid.

did W1 for the first time last year. I have 3 other W2's to compare it to. Barley noticed the fresh grass as it dies very fast anyway, I felt like I somehow got MORE dust in my lung W1 but that's just me Also noticeable diff in crowds, but same great shows.
I say it comes down to what days u can get PTO on lol

Thats what they did with FYF. Now its on their terms.
The deep cuts on these recent Three 6 Mafia setlists are a dream come true holy shit. If I can see Weak Azz Bitch, Who Run It, Put Ya Signs, and Tear Da Club Up at the Polo fields my life is complete. Feel sorry for my wife though lmao

I will say the tech issues are usually straightened out and mainly seamless by W2 Coachella has the best tech guys in the biz, always shocks me how little ever rlly goes wrong compared to the huge production they are running.
After sound bleed city at Primavera, newfound respect for the guys at Coach

alright, finally going through the lineup. there's a lot more I'll probably end up putting on my list but this is my first pass (must sees in bold)
Friday Want to see: Lady Gaga | The Marias | The Prodigy | Parcels | The Go-Gos | MARINA | Miike Snow |
Might See: MIssy Elliot | Sara Landry | Chris Stussy | Julie | Pete Tong
Saturday Want to see: Green Day | Above & Beyond | Japanese Breakfast | Beth Gibbons | Darkside | Gustavo Dudamel | Jimmy Eat World | Viagra Boys | Blonde Redhead
Might see: T-Pain | Yo Gabba Gabba! | The Dare | salute | horsegirl | Infected Mushroom
Sunday Want to see: Kraftwerk | beabadooboo | Polo & Pan | Basement Jaxx | Chase & Status | MEUTE
Might see: Circle Jerks | Ben Bohmer | Amyl & the Sniffers | Boris Brejcha | Fcukers | Wisp
This feels inevitable, I will be far away lmao starting with the fact that Carnival is the worst fucking song to get big in a long time. Feels like they are Trojan horsing a Kanye appearance that will get them huge streaming views and headlines without the bad press they'd get for actually having officially booked him. Plausible deniability, essentially.
biggest lineup surprise came late last night when I found out Vegas room rates are absurdly cheap the Monday/Tuesday after W2. Let’s make it a week. Why not
gaga is cool of course, only headliner that moves the needle for me here, i'm sure at coachella she'll put on a hell of a show. other artists i'd be interested in:
friday: missy elliott, the prodigy, tinlicker, speed, seun kuti

I know it’s probably going to be like HAIM or LCD, but dreaming of a Lonely Island surprise week of schedule add on that Saturday since we already have four potential guests already on the lineup with Billie Joe Armstrong, T Pain, Gaga, and Charli.

Wasn’t even auto tune so much as a backing track with maybe an attempt to sing 15% of the words. The chick mostly was high and wearing Uggs and yelling “night killlllllla” every five seconds while Lisa Frank style dolphin clip art played on the screens. In other words exactly what you all want I’m sure but it was a train wreck.
If not post, jelly might come out for Jessie Murph. They have a much bigger song together in Wild Ones. I’m not entirely sure why I know this fact and I don’t intent to find out
I can’t wait for John Summit surprise orchestral set in the do-lab, no way Coachella passed on that this year.

Thats pretty normal. So which hotel cost $20 a night
