Fozzie Bear I’ve been going W2 every year since 2017, and without fail it’s been hotter. If you’re camping especially it makes a huge difference and IMO should be enough to do W1 above all the other differentiators. The comment I’m quoting triggered me because I see a version of it every year and it always gave me false hope lol. I’m not going this year but my group is finally switching because of weather alone.
W2 is consistently hotter since I started going in 2012. It's actually crazy how that exact week always seems to be when the temp spikes.
Exactly. And you used to be able to get a fat discount on W2 tickets in the aftermarket compared to W1, not really the case the past few years either for me.
I feel like the mustard set will be the exact same as the flog set. I give 50% chance Kendrick shows up one weekend. This isn’t a baby keem situation. Mustard and Kendrick don’t have that long of a history for a guarantee.
The history isn’t there but he gave Kendrick the beat to one of the most important rap songs in the past decade and brought half of LA out for the Pop Out during his set. Kendrick has been touch and go re: supporting other artists in the past but this definitely smells like favor for a favor.
Sometimes W1 is hotter. Temperature differences are not constant. Neither are guests, the grass, or production issues.
What is constant though is cheaper lodging, less after parties, and set reviews from weekend 1.

It is usually hotter weekend 2, but ultimately it's also a bit of a crapshoot; the weather can fluctuate like 10-20 degrees in a couple of days. I actually wish it had been warmer weekend 1 last year; 79 and 75 on Saturday/Sunday is chillier than I'd like. But I'm not camping; the last time I camped was 2012, when it was below 70 Saturday W1 and 105 Saturday W2, and that was miserable. Both weekends' weather that year sucked lol.

There is no way Travis is curating the whole festival right? Like maybe around MainStage at most? Honestly thinking about him doing an entire Coachella takeover is a major buzzkill.
My initial reaction was that he'll be designing some stuff but not all since there's not even the dolab mentioned on the bottom of the poster. They're probably still figuring out who's doing the art installations and will update the poster accordingly, but wanted to get the artists out to get the sale going. Perhaps that just hopium from me though.
Good call re: the do lab. I also can't imagine Robert Bose isn't back again with the balloons. It's not Coachella without those.
Dear Travis: bringing back Tesla Coils would be a great way to win people over, I promise.
if they can get gaga, missy, the Marias, the prodigy, and twigs to not conflict. that would be a run for the ages right there.
You might be in luck minus The Prodigy
I am guessing they will stagger the top 4 like this:
Gaga Main FKA outdoor closer Missy Main The Marias outdoor sunset
I just don’t want Gaga and The Prodigy to conflict. You really think they would put them on a small stage like Mojave/Gobi?? I feel like their crowd size will be much closer to Chem Bros/Justice than Orbital for example.

re: The Marias. I love them and am super stoked theyre going to be at Coachella, but it is also a bit mind blowing that an opener for Billie Eilish is getting booked as fourth on their day. Times, they are a changing...
Probably pretty low. Word is he's going on a stadium tour after the Super Bowl performance.
Coachella really couldnt save us from Travis by convincing Kendrick to start his stadium tour at Coachella? damn.
My guess is that the Super Bowl prep precludes enough time to plan for Coachella, and that during Coachella he will be preparing a tour to kick off in the summer. I think the timing was just never going to work out.

I knew they’d get 2nd line booking but I thought at the end of their day tbh. At the same time, we saw what opening for Taylor did for Sabrina. Coachella could be anticipating them to blow up even more.
People said the same thing about Joji and then Glimpse of Us blew up

What if they end up in the Sahara before Mau P and LISA?

Hadn’t considered this but seems like there is much more precedent for legacy electronic acts closing outdoors lately.
My last early morning thought is that if Coachella has been a preview of the Portola top lines, it feels like Portola is now an audition for Coachella for the bottom lines. Sammy Virji, Chase & Status, Sara Landry, Interplanetary Criminal, AG Cook, Horsegiirl, Tinlicker, Bohmer, and Glass Beams were like the most hyped performances post festival that way overdrew their stages, the only one missing from that group that I can remember is Joy Orbison.
Also re: Portola, Snow Strippers was the worst fucking live act I've maybe seen ever but I also feel like their fans wouldn't care.
Don’t forget Fcukers!!!
Also Ben Bohmer’s set at Portola was so fucking boring lol
Yea I was bored to tears personally but that style of electronic has never worked with me. My brother thought it was mind blowing and the Portola reddit raved about it. I'm happy it's here for other people lmao but a skip for me.

Yeah, but Sabrina was booked on the third line...unless the opening for a star factor has absolutely blown up, fourth on their day seems insane to me. Also, if we're being honest, opening for Taylor is a much bigger deal than opening for Billie.
Other artists billed 4th on their day the past two years: Justice Gesa Khurangbin Chem Bros Boy Genius Porter Robinson
The Marias is an absolute overbill by a huge margin

I think they're closer to Underworld than Chems/Justice in draw, and they don't have a crazy rig like those two. Mojave feels right to me, unless they end up Sahara somehow.
Interpol & The Walkmen 11.23 I Am Morbid/Suffocation 11.26 King Diamond 11.29 Sadistic Intent/Massacre 11.30 70K Tons Of Metal 2025 Hell's Heroes 2025 Sick New World 2025 Maryland Deathfest 2025
It makes sense they release this earlier since there’s likely fewer radius clause provisions on the stage and it’s easier to lock down. IIRC the only reason they released late last year was b/c the stage wasn’t even done yet til closer to the festival.

I think "No One Noticed" is just starting its slow climb up the charts

I saw the Marias at CFG this weekend and sorry but that set was such a snoozefest
