I like 4 here. Florida is better but Texas obviously isnt lower than Georgia. Houston and Austin are cool. Great state for sports. Huge contribution to rap music. I’d slot NY and Colorado above it.
I love me some Texas. ACL, Day for Night, Houston Rap, Hill Country BBQ, tubing good rivers, best show I ever saw in my life (ABWH at Summit back then), good beer, some great distilleries, Tex Mex and authentic Mexican, fishing. But rednecks, mostly bad politics with some notable exceptions, not-so-great public healthcare, power grids.
I think it's middle of the road and went with 11 which is 27.5 of 50. It's better than the deep south except Florida though it does have its bonuses over Florida.

I've been to/through Texas exactly four times. I've been to Houston for approximately 8 hours, where I flew in, drove somewhere for a work meeting, ate lunch somewhere unremarkable, and drove back through the same stretch of concrete to fly back home. I've been to a two-day conference at the airport hotel in Dallas, where I did not leave said airport or hotel, but I did have a nice steak dinner at the hotel restaurant. And I've been down the stretch of Route 66 that goes through Amarillo twice, where my wife and I stayed at the illustrious, total class Big Texan Steak Ranch, and we gazed upon the glory of Cadillac Ranch. (See below.) I would like to visit Austin, but other than that, I don't feel a special trip to Texas is necessary for me at this point.

Same. I have no real love for Texas but we are running out of states that can fill in the top slots and there is a really good chance those states don't even show up.
