Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
I propose we start a thread where whenever you find something that is a great price or fantastic product that would be perfect for roo, you post the link up here to possibly help others. I'm a bargain hunter so I love getting good stuff for cheap prices! Also my first year ('05) I spent lots of money on stuff, but ended up being completely unprepared realistically.
I'll start with this one: Eureka Tetragon 9 Family 9-by 9-Foot Four-Person Tent -
Good brand, great tent, I bought it this summer after my tent-leaking experience at roo '06. I used it at the end of the summer and it's so great! Not too large of a footprint, easy to put up (did it all alone on a trial run and it took about 10 minutes), and is 6 feet tall so you can actually stand up!
List price is $129.99, sale price is now all the way down to $64.99 (I think I paid about $80) - it's a 2005 tent so I guess they are the leftovers. And the shipping is free!
I don't know if this is a good deal or not but....Last year when we went it was a little warm...remember..warm? I am happy to have a camper and a nice 10'X10' EZ up canopy...This was a life saver. This is something that might be useful if you are tent camping...You could put a tent under it and keep the sun and the rain away..
for those of you that have michaels craft and fabric stores around they sell tubes of 15 glow sticks for a dollar. a friend works there and can occasionally get them for 50 percent off whihc is an awesome deal.
Last year I spent 25 dollars on a coleman "tent fan". That did no absolutely no good at roo, I couldnt even get a breeze goin in the tent at night.
But I have stubled upon this. Its an "A/C" you can use in your tent, its like a fan that you set on top of the ice in your cooler, and it blows cold air. www.kooleraire.com/index.htm Iread the testimonials it looks like it works. I am definately going to try this thing this year. That would be cool to have an AC tent, might actually be able to get some sleep.

I second this idea. I bought one of those canopies at Sports Authority end of season on sale pretty cheap. Used it for my last camping trip in September and oh boy was it cool. I hung sheets on the sides for privacy, which would also work really well for the sun.

Also, the e-z up types that just pop right up... I was thinking of investing in one this year cause I can actually put it up by myself and it doesn't have ropes and stuff...
Amazon.com is having a 50% off sale right now - it's $50 for a 10x10 one which is the cheapest I have ever seen! Good reviews too!
As far as the cooler A/C ...dont waste the cash on that. I could go on for hours about evaporative cooling.. You would need about 20 of them with 200# of ice and a lot of charged 12 volt batteries to get the tonnage of AC to cool a tent when the humidity is that high....

What about using dry ice? I know it has to be ventilated... but in a tent it shouldn't be too bad.
I'm on the lookout for a travel trailer. If anyone hears of one of those scout trailers in the Illinois/Missouri area, let me know. Those scouts seem to be the way to go. And they're sooooo cute.
some advice. when purchasing an ez up, be sure to get an actual "e-z up" i have seen dozens of those walmart brand ez up imitations that have just been mangled by the wind. i have alos seen it happen to actual ez ups but not nearly as often. and although they sux to carry around if you get the weighted bags for the poles it works alot better then just staking does.
No problems with ours...We also have the "EZ-UP brand" but I prefer the Caravan..
wow! you had a really roomy camp ground there! was that in vip?
vip looks lonely, i wouldn't wanna have a setup so far from everyone else like that, i feel like being sort of cramped together and stuff was half the fun
It's not lonely....I set up on the end of the row to eliminate fumes from generators on campers. Next year I would like to set up the camper on the "main road" going through the VIP area. I have to sat that 1/4 of the weekend is looking at people...
I can't tell you how nice it was to come back to the camper and relax for a while..
If anyone spots any good deals on REI.com, let me know... my fiance won $40 in gift certificates from work. (No, I'm not spending them for him, but I thought I could suggest some Bonnaroo supplies)
Definitely check out www.ebags.com frequently (bookmark it and just click on it every couple days) cause they almost always have good sales going on but they change from day to day. It will be 30% off one day, then some "holiday" or "weekend" sale, or free shipping the next, etc. I got my camelback from there on sale. They also are really a great company, i've gotten all my luggage from them from great prices and they have easy returns, ship quickly, and people review all the stuff on the web site (the good and bad are not edited), so you can find out which bag is good for you. They sometimes have last years camelbacks or discontinuted models discounted, and they also have hydration packs from other brands.
Freecycle! I didn't even think to mention it. I'm picking up two free Coleman propane lanterns today thanks to freecycle. If you don't freecycle you should. The whole idea is to keep stuff out of landfills and help out people who need it. Instead of throwing something away, you offer it on the list and if someone can use it they come pick it up. It's a great way to declutter and help out others and the planet. Check the website to find a list local to you.
Yeah I picked up the fan as well. I set it on top of a granola box so that it was aimed right at my face. That helped pretty well. It's not really going to do much unless it's right on you.

If anyone is familiar with a swamp cooler, an old 50s and 60s "air conditioner" for cars, they work on the same principal as this thing.
I second the don't buy it vote. This cooling principal just does not work in the TN humidity.
i posted this in a different thread before i read this one but once again, my best friend last year at bonnaroo was my battery powered fold up fan that I got in the camping section at walmart for ten bucks. it takes eight D batteries but i didnt need to chagne the batteries once the whole roo and I left it going all night each night and it helped me sleep past six oclock or whenever the sun rose. once you have the hot sun beating down on you in your tent, you wanna get out even if you are tired but not with a nice gentle, constant breeze blowing on you.
