I have done some shopping around online for Camelbaks and this is the best deal I can find. I ordered one to see what the quality was like and it is perfect for the price - I also will probably only use it for Bonnaroo. It's also a good size and not too big.
I found a good deal on a tent and someone even had a review on there that said they'd used it for Bonnaroo last year! It's a huge 8 person tent fro $120 bucks on sale... PLUS it has a 5 foot screened in room in front with no flooring so you can throw your muddy shoes and chairs and other stuff in there. Very cool.
I bought it yesterday.
I originally found it on a site that Leo had recommended a while back, but found it cheaper on Amazon.

ok, this won't work for everyone, but this was my "stroke of genius" for today. I went to this outfitter store to get a good windstopper coat today. All of the people were really cool, and since I am new to the area I am looking for ways to meet new people. SOOO....I applied for a part-time job there, which serves another purpose which actually fits in this thread: You get any gear you want for wholesale price as an employee - tents, crocs, whatever. I can't think of a better way to get good stuff on the cheap. And no, stealing it isn't a "better" way
I love that part-time job idea and might look into it myself, since I'm currently unemployed. They've gotta let me off for festival season (Bonnaroo and Cropredy) though!
I second the recommendation of Freecycle.org; my husband and I are great participators.
I've always done well with Sierra Trading Post; right now I'm eyeing their roll-up aluminum table:
As I've mentioned on other threads, I have a tent that I got from tentsontrucks.com . I'm currently swapping it out for a larger one, and they've been really helpful. There look to be some decent deals on a few other camping items on their site.
I'm glad I found this thread, because I just bought that tent ceiling fan and was looking into the Coleman-cooler A/C. (By the way, you can't use dry ice with the cooler A/C.) I guess I'll keep the fan.
One of these days--maybe this weekend--I'll find the box marked "Camping/Festival" that I put in the garage or the shed last year. When I do, I may well find items I don't plan to use this year. Is there a spot somewhere on these boards where those of us who have spare camping equipment can offer it up to others?
Does anyone know anything about the Kelty Yellowstone 6 Tent? Any info would be greatly apriciated. I dont like the idea of dropping almost 200 bucks on something that isnt worth it.
I signed up for Campmor's Trail Mail (@www.campmor.com) and they send you a weekly newsletter of closeout stuff. Got a nice fleece zip up for twenty bucks. They have some tent deals, too. On the EZ Up- stake that puppy down! We have a 10x10 for tailgaiting and learned the hard way that if they're not staked down they're parasails! Otherwise its great.

Ebay has EZ up canopies for $38 plus shipping ($17). They are 10X10 and the distributor has a great rating. Just ordered it yesterday so I don't know yet if it's crap. And Campmor has Crazy Creeks for $8-10.

Don't know about the Yellowstone, but Kelty makes quality product. My kelty pack and tent haven't done me wrong.
I got a cheap knock off brand tent fan at wal mart for ten bucks and its great. it takes eight D batteries and last year i didnt have to change the batteries and it stayed on about five or six hours a night throughout the festival and it helped me sleep after the sun rose which was handy.

Check out this amazon deal for a fan. It's advertised as the most powerful battery-powered fan on the market (here and elsewhere). Everywhere else it's advertised for $60. $18 seems like an absolute steal.

That one looks exactly like the one I bought at Walmart for about $12. Don't know if it's the same, but it looks like it is. If so, you don't have to pay for shipping!

Oh I hear ya about Walmart! I never shop there because of personal reasons, but I had to bite the bullet and get my canopy, cooler, and fan there. If I can find a way around shopping there, I will, but since I'm spending so much money on Bonnaroo, I had to find a more affordable solution. Stupid Walmart! ;D
I suggest you avoid Walmart. The canopies are lousy. I got my cheap one ($20) at Krogers and it is much more stable than the Walmart ones. The Walmart ones with the blue tarp and guy wires barely stand up with no wind and the wires trip everyone. This year I got a $100 canopy at Tractor Supply for $32 (very stable and sets up in minutes). Try there and see if they have any left.
I got big fans on ebay for less than 1/2 price of Walmart's little ones. I'd try ebay, amazon, sportmansguide.com, campmor.com and target. Walmart stuff is cheaply made and should only be used as a last resort.
That looks good. It has no guy wires (or shows none) and looks to flex in the wind. Make sure you stake it down ro you can get got in a tent tornado (check out that post if you haven't already.)

This is the exact fan I got at walmart for fifteen bucks. Its great and I only needed one set of 8 D batteries the whole time at Roo last year (and it was on 5-6 hrs a night). Buy it at walmart but if you cant fidn it there, get it off of amazon. I woulda payed upto 30 dollars for this fan cause it worked realyl well.
For those of you interested in a hammock, here's the one I always use. It's on sale at campmor.com for $15.99 and is very comfortable. This doesn't include a stand. It is the La Paz Hammock if the link doesn't work.
