My brother and I are going to get a hotel about an hour west of the farm on I-40 in Dickenson, I think. It will only cost us $25 each and it's one last shower, good night's sleep and breakfast at the Waffle House. CKS, if this is something you might do, let me know and we can grab breakfast together.
awww, i'll be driving in from the east, otherwise i'd love to!
I now have two waffle houses within a 20 min drive from me here, but those were put up recently.
On the drive down in '05 we stopped at a waffle house in kentucky around midnight. Aside from some locals that had just left the kid rock concert, it was the most delicious meal ever. Something about latenight diner food during a road trip is excellent. Not to mention sweet tea.

Hey, Gene, that festival had a decent line-up. How was it?
I'll have to check out Sprout's page. I haven't been on last.fm too much lately - my sound card is going out on my puter. Once all this Vista stuff gets the kinks worked out I'll get a new one, but until then, it's CDs in the FJ.
Everyone's invited to breakfast!!!
The concert/festival was a ton of fun. I relay like North Mississippi Allstars is is in southern part of NJ so it was a 2 hour drive each way.
Time to buy a Mac with a ipod and the interface for the car radio...
Waffle House = Unhealthy Thank God they are not up here in the northeast. For the ones looking for a location: www.wafflehouse.com/

Cracker Barrel, Denny's & IHOP. I know those are horrible, I'm comfortable with that. And any small mom n' pop that might serve real southern breakfast like grits and such--- and best yet, country ham and red eye gravy with grits and an over-easy egg... mmm....
red eye gravy sounds disgusting, but i bet it tastes delicious. what is it exactly?
Red Eye Gravy is the cross between coffee and cooked country ham drippings. It has a real distinct flavor that's like salty coffee-- it's actually pretty awesome. As for consistency, Red Eye Gravy is a really loose gravy (i.e. more like water and not thick at all). So usually it's what country ham might sit in, but usually you'll spoon it over your grits and you'll find yourself wanting to dip everything in it (biscuits, your balls, ----> sorry, joke from The State).
Laughing at The State reference. Throw in 500 lbs of pudding with the gravy....
Anyway, a question for those VIP'ers from past years. When I pull in Thursday afternoon, am I going to be ushered to a specific spot like the main lot or is it a looser "park where you like" kind of setup? I'm guessing I'll be directed to a spot. But if by chance I'm not, what's the preferred area? Closer to the Centeroo entrance? Further away? Is there really one VIP spot better then another?
If this has been addressed previously in this 15 page thread, a simple "re-read the thread" will suffice.
Less then 2 weeks. Can't wait. Hope the forecast changes from the mid-90's it's listing right now.

Last year it was absurdly loose. In VIP spots are already marked on the ground (and they're giant) but you essentially just drive to where you like. I did see some people basically letting RV's know where that section was, but we drove around a bit before we picked the spot we wanted.

Hey everybody! you've got mail. Except those people who opted out of the phone tree and there were several people with email addresses that sent bouncebacks.
See everyone next week and I can't wait...I'm slowly gonna start packing the car today
I'm getting more excited for Tool, White Stripes, and Damien Rice every day. I think Franz Ferdinand will be a fun show, and I will feel pretty dam lucky to see The Police.

Okay, so we have a list of everyone's # and such, but how do we meet each other and camp near one another? My #'s on the list, but I don't turn it on when I cross the border cause I'm not paying $5/minute.
So are groups meeting at the hotel at certain times?
I'll meet people and have fun no matter what, but it would be cool to meet people before entering Bonnaroo, and also have a place to share experiences and such (Inforoo) when it's all over.

This seems to be a common question. But I know several people who do not want to be committed to a set time and others who don't mind. If you'd like to schedule a caravan maybe you can email those in your time frame to see if they'd like to schedule a meetup. This is also why I thought flyers would be easy because they don't require have a specific meetup time, you just look for the flyer.
If I set a time I'll probably miss it or get impatient. So I'll have to admit I'm not one for a caravan, if you're at the hotel when I am then we can all travel togather. I will be at the HIE before 9 and heading to the campground at 10:30ish. If I don't see anyone at that time I'll just be on the lookout for the flyers on the campground. I guess there might need to be a group (Vet VIPers) that could mark the Inforoo camping spot.

I agree with everything you said. I think the best thing might be to have a flyer and meet at the hotel at say 9am, maybe even 8:30. Sure others can have their own meet up time, but if someone wanted to create an 8:30 meeting time flyer we can grab our wristbands at that time, and head over to VIP at 10.
My guess is 10:30am for me and our RV. We'll be staying in the HIE Wed. night and so I'm sure checking out Thursday morning, plus a substantial 10am line for VIP cred will take 1/2 an hour.

I'm hoping to slip into the HIE parking lot in the wee hours of Thursday to avoid any substantial lines once the sun rises. This will be my first time pulling this RV and really don't want to get stuck in a "nowhere to turn around" situation. I want to wait around until we have a decent sized group for the early arrivals but I'm afraid I'll grow impatient and head on in. Logistically there isn't a downside to when you get there. If I get inside early, I assume I'd be closest to the Centeroo entrance. Later, closer to the hospitality tent. Either way, I'm inside...I WIN.
We are staying at the HIE on wed night, will actually be there early wed. I will look for all and the flyers. I am really excited to camp with everybody and party. Last year we hooked up with our neighbors and had about 25 people. I can hardly wait to hang out with you all. I am thinking of making Sangria on Thursday.
