Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
woooohoooo! karma for fellow cali folk, we're a rare breed around these parts. welcome
are you taking the airport shuttle or renting a car/rv?
We went the car rental route.
The one other item we are debating is what to lug from Cali and what should we just plan on buying when we get there cheaply (i.e. sleeping bags, tent, cooler).
It would just seem to be a pain to try to bring most through the airport but that means a trade off of cheap Walmart stuff that might not hold up. Any suggestions appreciated.
Nice to see some other people representin' Cali & West Coast at the Roo.

I've always brought my stuff from home on the chance that you get to wal-mart and they are sold out of camping equipment or some such disaster- but i hear ya about the airport- there are some services where you can send your luggage through private businesses but i've never done that or know anyone who has amen on the Cali Love born in Mt.Shasta, and miss my homeland

i flew in solo last year and i was able to take my tent, cot, all my clothes, etc pretty easily. seeing that there will be two of you you can definitely split the load and be able to bring anything your heart desires. a suggestion someone had last year (tara i think) was to use a cooler as luggage, maybe throw a couple sleeping bags in there. a good 5 day cooler will keep all of your stuff cooler and keep your ice icy much longer than a cheapy one.
if you join up with the group and camp with the inforooers you'd definitely be able to bum some room under a shade tent, we had at least 4 of them up last year in tent only. in a pinch you could probably find one in a walmart in nashville or something (i think the one near roo may sell out of all camping related things pretty quickly)
definitely bring your tent from home, a cheapy last minute tent at roo could be a nightmare if it rains a lot. last year i was able to put my tent and one of those collapsible chairs and a couple tarps in a duffle as one of my pieces of luggage.
basically i think you should bring everything but food and drink. and i'd highly highly highly suggest hanging with the inforoo group for the cool people and the shade tents

I'm sure there's a thread out there that touches on this but I'm feelin a bit lazy so if someone could please enlighten me...
Ok, so I bought VIP tix with RV upgrade and am trying to line someone up to go with me but it usually ends up that they can't get off work(GA '04/'06) and wind up selling the ticket in the traffic jam. Worst case, I sell the ticket to a stranger...Is it 1 vehicle/ticket per campsite or pair?? The delema I'm trying to avoid is that if I get someone to go with me, I doubt they will be able to arrive and depart when I do since I might be in an RV and I need to find a way to bring in another vehicle. I'm tired...does this make sense??
My wife and I are flying up from Hollywood, FL. We'll be in the VIP too. First timers....What is VIP seating like?
Jay
VIP seating is in metal bleachers off to the side for the What stage and at the back of the field for the Which stage. Nothing special in the tents. Sound is excellent but you're pretty far back. The best part about the What bleachers is the beer tent under them- VIP cheap beer with free snacks and really friendly bartenders. If you really want to have a personal experience you need to be on the field but the bleachers also give you a great view on the little dramas on the field. Like the guys with the water balloon sling shot firing balloons randomly into the crowd. High hilarity until they saw us laughing and we became the target.....

caliroo - Alisa had great advice, but I just wanted to throw in that in '05 with 4 people's stuff we ran out of room in the car, so I waited and bought my cooler at the Manchester Walmart and there were TONS of them there - I think they must stock up pretty well. So you could probably risk it, but the other stuff I'd say bring.
angrysunday - have you seen the thread on here about selling extra VIP tickets? - you might find someone right on there. Since it's so expensive that would probably be safer than waiting till you get there and risking losing the money. I have seen tons of signs on the road coming in for people selling tix, but I haven't seen anyone looking yet (sorry!). Also there's craigslist.com to find someone local, or closer to the event, EBay - I bet you could definitely find someone there who just needs one more vip ticket and not the car pass. There has to be odd number groups of people that want to go vip, or someone flying in taking the coach who does not need a car pass.
You get one parking pass per pair of VIP tix. Since you are getting an RV pass, you might be able to purchase a companion pass for a vehicle if that becomes a deal maker or breaker for the buyer of your extra ticket.
Hi everyone! I have been lurking on this board for a few days now and it really helped convince me to get VIP ticks this year (just ordered them!!!) So, thanks everyone and nice to meet you! I cant wait to experience roo with showers and I certainly wont miss the 1.5 mile hike to centeroo. ;D
my girlfriend and i just got our VIP tix last night too. We were blessed with a good GA spot last year in Darth Vader and we would rather spend the extra money then to get stuck with a poor camping arrangement. Looking forward to meeting all the Inforoosters. My name is Jayce and my other halfs name is Jenn. See you in 98 days!!!
I keep thinking how many people seem to be going VIP this year, but I bet a pretty good chunk of them (at least 25-40%) have been influenced by the Inforoo thread and are Inforoosters.
I know the VIP threads have swayed many, many would have been GA-ers (including myself) to go VIP. And those people probably figure they may as well sign up for Inforoo after discovering how informative of a board it actually is!

Yeah Inforoo is one of the few boards I read anymore - lots of folks helping each other out, answering questions, and most importantly - the positive vibe.
Count us in for VIP! Tim (Hubby) and I are Driving up from Atlanta. This is our first Roo. We are getting lots of great info from everyone. Thanks! ...Is it too early to start packing?

I'm waiting for my new sleeping bag to come in. If the weather holds up this weekend, I'm going to load up my bike and take a good long 5-hour ride down to Atlantic City to build up my endurance for June.
I've already started a list of things I need to purchase.
-5 day cooler -artificial grass -tarps/shade tent -i'm sure I'll figure out more as we get closer!
I can't wait till the weather warms up and the ground dries up a bit, I need to set up my tent, water proof it, and try to figure out how to shade it. it's a tall tent, so getting it underneath another shade tent isn't likely. I'm just dying to figure out what to do. (this was our biggest mistake in 05.) It's a two room tent, the 2nd room being a floorless screen room. and dang did it get hot, so the screen room is good for storage but not really sitting in.

I e-mailed her once in response to the old thread that said to e-mail her about the meetup. she's got her tickets, but I haven't seen her update via a thread.
working on updating a list of VIP'ers. could take a while...gotta do it tonight after work!

I think I have the same or similar tent & the same problem. Please let me know if you find a shade solution for your tall tent.
Tick: it's pretty much a straight walled tent. I don't have any pictures of it since we last had it out. Here's a web pic. It's as least as tall as an EZUP i think. edit: 7'4" high to be exact!
At most I think we can pull our door up to the edge of a shade tent, which I wouldn't mind cuz we could share a shade tent 3-4 people that way. I'm going to rig up some tarps on the sides to help shade the windows from sun but let the air flow. worth a shot I figure.

Hi everyone! I'm finally taking the plunge and droppin the shekels for VIP after going to every previous roo GA. I do believe I've earned my spurs. The infamous Camp Growlbacky Falls will be relocating to the swanky side. Wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee! My gf has been to the last 2 roos GA with me, and neither one of us want anything to do with walking 40 mins, crammed in camping, or having to walk past the poop trucks. VIP vets, is a camelbak as crucial in VIP as it is in GA? We'll be in an RV, but we plan on setting up a "retard tent" away from the RV or any close neighbors for when any of us are too cross-eyed to let people sleep. Is this possible?
