Will they send you a map of the VIP entrance with your tickets explaining how and when to come in?
Is it a seperate entrance from the GP? cause I have seen the pics of the cars backed up to freaking Graceland trying to get in!
And can the VIP peeps show up early?
I know I know NEEWBIES suck!
Everybody is a Newbie once - they don't suck. If memory serves last year we got special driving instructions (may have had a map too) on how to get to the VIP entrance. You had to go to the Holiday Inn first to get your parking pass, etc. I believe they opened that up at like 10am on Thursday, maybe a little earlier. The VIP entrance last year was just for the VIP's and I also believe some of the vendors used it as well. There was definately a line, but nothing like the GA lines.
I need to set up my tent, water proof it, and try to figure out how to shade it. it's a tall tent, so getting it underneath another shade tent isn't likely. I'm just dying to figure out what to do.
Party rental and wedding supply places sometime have those huge “tents” that they rent. I’m not sure what goes into putting them up, but I would be happy to help you out. – or on a more morbid note, I’ve also heard of funeral homes that will rent out their tents.
my mom actually has a really nice hand-made canopy tent that is long and tall and very heavy duty. But the problem is that i don't know that the poles will fit in my car (99% sure they're too long).
But it would be really perfect for bonnaroo and the inforoo VIP setup.
I gotta look in to that and be sure the poles won't fit in my ride. If they do, I'm worrying about nothing
We treat mishaps like sinking ships and I know that I don't want to be out to drift Well I can see it in your eyes like I taste your lips and They both tell me that we're better than this
I also sent Stairwell/Steph a PM about the VIP meetup a couple days ago but in case there are two lists put me on it. Me and my GF are newbies to roo and VIP. Looking forward to it.
I also have the same problem with shading a huge 7+ feet tent. Maybe I will have to bring my smaller tent instead.
This is my set-up from last year. ;D I had a mini-van but this can be modified for a car. Throw a sun tarp over the whole car, stake it down and use two poles to hold up one end. I slept inside the van but you could throw a tent under the tarp. Plus you could put the cooler in your trunk and keep it out of the sun and have the option of locking it up when you leave.
The sun tarp might rest on top of your tent if it's too tall but i don't think that'd be too much of a problem.

GO BIG!!! I know I am, maybe all of the oversized tent people can come together and we can make a shade community. My tent stands about 7+ feet too, right now I'm trying to figure out if my 4 tarp poles will actually hold up at Bonnaroo. I plan on using a 20 x 20 tarp that should cover my car, the tent, give me a shaded area and come down on the sides to protect me from rain, at least this is what I hope.
I just purchased a 20 x 40 tarp for my garage and I will not be using it on it. I am having my roof replaced and I am not going to use it so I will bring it. I will look for some tent poles for it. Would make a great shade tent.

That's a good idea. I just bought a 15 x 15 coleman shade tent. And we have a fairly large tent to go with that. We could turn that into a pretty bad@ass roo village.

As it gets closer we should plan a camp together we will have chill area for mimosas in the grass .
I definitely like the shade community idea. connect some tarps together and we'll have a shady spot in the middle. jUst have to make sure the breeze can get through.
It will also make the VIP roo'ers easy to spot. just look for the huge blue canopy! lol

You have to be careful with this. The airflow is critical. I went on a summer long cross country trip with a couple thousand fellow tent campers. We found when we tried to link a lot of shade canopys together with a group of people that it just trapped in the heat. Make sure you get good airflow (i.e. you don't want to block off any sides with tarps or tree lines). Is it June yet?
I got a quick question because everyone here sounds like pros on the VIP.
Everyone says bring more water than you ever think you could drink. Well VIP has free food, and discount beer. What about bottled water or sodas? Is that free, discounted not offered? Anyone know the deal with that. Sure would be nice to only have to bring enough frozen water to keep the cooler cold and rely on the free stuff from VIP. I got enough other camping supplies to fill the truck up with and don't want to worry about binding room for 5 cases of water.
And do they quit selling the beer and other drinks when they quit serving the food or does that stay on as long/late as music plays?
Thanks a lot to everyone, you are always a wealth of information
I have not been before but based on what I read on other threads, they charged for bottled water in VIP. Who knows if they listened to complaints about it not being included.
hey i live not too far from the nashville airport if any of you guys end up in a jam and need a place to crash it wont be a problem. open door policy and all. also for the cali folk i lived in cali b4 moving out here, allbeit the crotch lick of it, but im also having a couple friends from cali come out 4 roo. we will have to hook up fer sure! im new to roo and to vip roo and just wanted to say thanx for all the great info. its totally appreciated. i need to go buy all my camp stuff still and any suggestions there would be great since im a girl and dunno what the hell im doing. btw is there a limit on how much beer we can bring? thanx!

On Thu night at the pre-party, everything is free - food, beer, water, sodas,...everything! After that, there is a (reduced) charge for all drinks and they will be on sale until the hospitality tents close which is just a bit after the headliners are done on the main stage. (...and even though the VIP literature you will receive will give times for the meals, I have never been through the tent at any time without something available on the buffet...in other words, if the caterers still have some food on-site, it won't stay in their trucks just because of a time-frame)
I'll reiterate what has been said before and will be said again -- You can NOT bring too much water!!!!!!
Any guesses on the pre party band? I will venture to say the Brazilian Girls, but that might just be because I am listening to them right now. But they seem to be the right size band.
