Leafsfan: We're coming from north of T.O. - but still big Leaf fans also! If there are no conflicts, I will probably check out Sam Roberts. Just so you know, there is 1 other performer with a Canadian passport - Feist...she is definitely worth checking out (she also plays with Broken Social Scene)
Schuppj: I'll definitely bring some good microbrew Canadian beer for pong....if I can swap for some good micro American suds!
Ticktrix: Thanx for the link....thats where I got all my ammunition a few weeks back to convince my group to try the other side of the fence after 2 years of battling the walk....the dust...the mud....the dirty loos....the "i can't open my car door more then 1 foot"....etc! Oh....u might be just the perfect person to help this inept message board newbie...considering u have over 600 posts....lol.....how do i get my jpeg or avatar or whatever the doohickey thingy under your name is called?....lol......cheers!
Karma for you just for being a Leafs fan. They NEED to play well this weekend

Thanks a million Leafsfan...I'd pass some karma on your way also, but unfortunately I'm still trying to learn this whole message board thingy....lol....and also tryin' to figure out how to put your message above mine in the tiny font and box around the text...maybe after a couple or 10 beers tonight i will discover the secret! ???

This is exciting. I think it'd be alotta fun to organize some big Beer pont tournament or something. What I'm most excited for though is the fact that, if I don't feel like putting up with the crowd, I can just bring a lawnchair to the backyard area of the VIP space, sit back, crack open a case of beer and have a complete view of the What stage for the headliner. That sounds surreal!

Just hit the "Quote" button on the upper right, then type your comment in the text box, underneath the other person's text.

don't worry. it took me forever to figure out hpw to post a picture. you'll pick it all up pretty quickly.
I am a first-timer to Bonnaroo, just divorced and turned 50 years old. Yep, an old hippy here! Anyway, I thought that since I will be on vacation, I might as well go VIP. I am looking forward to this show!!

Not that I'm shamelessly looking for karma or anything (yeah, right!), but you can add or subtract karma by either "exalting" or "smiting" someone, respectively.
It took me a while to get the hang of it......but now I'm starting to feel like an old pro.....

Cheers "master of the cowbell"! Thanx for the instructions on karma...which I hope I gave you one for your help...and not take one away from you by hitting the wrong button....lol

seriously!!! lets start it now!!!!! Me and my girlfriend will be there but i will need a partner since my telekinetically immaculate beer pong powers are at the top of their game. maybe we can play for a five dollar buy in - or a Bonnaroo VIP trophy of some kind - i work too much to organize a tournament myself but will help in any way i can -- let me know

I think we should have a trophy of some sort: maybe a big hat with streamers and feathers that you get to walk around with during the day just so people know that your the beer pong champion. oh . . .and it definitely needs flashing lights and some sort noise maker when you walk
First time Rooer & VIPer... My wife and I are definitely down with the beer pong tourney idea, especially if it's still within view of the stage?! Awesome!
If this indeed does become a Thing, be sure to establish what kind of beer pong it will be. The direct throw format or bounce format?

After reading all the threads wife and I made the plunge with VIP for our first Roo. Coming out from Cali and wanted a little advice on a few things:
Where is the best place/town to get a room the night before (Wednesday)?
Is it difficult to get out Monday morning from the campgrounds (we are debating outbound flight times)?
We look forward to making the trek and seeing and meeting some of you eclectic Rooers rock it out.
BTW... We blew off Coachella for what I think is one of the deepest badass lineups to rock a festival.
woooohoooo! karma for fellow cali folk, we're a rare breed around these parts. welcome
i can answer one of your questions, i didn't see any problems with people getting out on monday last year. BUT if there is a serious mud issue there may be delays because of people getting stuck in it
are you taking the airport shuttle or renting a car/rv?
I purchased tickets for my girlfriend and I in VIP, but couldn't convince any friends to come - will any of you be our friends for a couple days
Leafsfan,
My wife and I are originally from Rochester, NY. I grew up vacationing in Toronto and watching the Leafs with my dad. Toronto is my absolute favorite city on the planet, and we should definitely meet up, have a beer or 8, talk Leafs, talk Jays and enjoy the Roo vibe.

Welcome to the boards.
Here's some of my answers from experience from last year. We didn't have a hard time getting out Monday, but we left really early (~6:30am). As for flights, we all had flights that left out of early in the afternoon, and it was no problem. We in fact got their way too early.

Nice! Welcome to the beer pong tourney. Were going to have to get a head count a couple of weeks out.
I'm for having the throw and bounce format. Wereas, the throw can't be obstructed by the other team and is worth any cup that it lands it -and- the bounce can be knocked away by the other team after the bounce, but if it makes it in is worth two cups. Any takers?

That's how we play out here. You can bounce all you like, but the opponents have free reign on the ball from then on out, and if it does make it in the cup, then you take two away. Do you guys rerack after each cup is taken away, or do you do it at 6, then 3?

2 More for Beer Pong! Me and my girl are driving down from Brooklyn and setting up in the VIP. So Stoked!!! Love our beer pong, or around here its known is Beruit.
Hmm... There may be even more beer pong variations out there than I thought. Not that it really matters what format we play.
Upstate NY rules (where I went to kollege) always involved bouncing the ball before the middle line on the table. The ball could then take another bounce on the opposing side. After that second bounce, the team was free to grab it.
Any illegal interference meant you chugged a whole beer. Any stray cups on the table (set down by spectators, for instance) were also fair game. The losing team would also have to finish any beer left on the winning team's side.
It really doesn't matter how we play, but the 2007 VIP Beer Pongaroo Tournament may warrant its own thread.

I guess I'm spoiled here. Sure I love Toronto, but never thought anyone would think it's the best city on the planet.
Leafs eh? Well I hope they fight for their lives during these last 16 games - making the playoffs is gonna be tough. Keep in touch - having a few beers together sounds like a plan, and with any luck the Leafs will be in the Stanley Cup finals at the time (wishful thinking by me eh?)
